Thanks Mark. I'm thinking on doing a F/P to add some of these going to Andrews AFB when AF1 is scheduled to depart, using the Andrews pack F/P as a base line. The plan is to start at Davison AAF (Don't have a good Quantico scenery), to the capitol bldg., to Andrews. Lets see how it goes. Lewis

Hello lewis!
How work goes? Any progress with this good idea? Maybe you can upload your Marine One paints?
BTW, which model of VH-60 do you use? Is it from FAB package?

It's the J. Moore freeware Hovercontrol UH-60 with a VH-60 repaint, not AI but ok with 1 or 2 flying around. The JFAI model would be an easy repaint....

Hi Andrew, slow I am afraid. Been a little busy in other things, but this is not forgiven. I could say that there is something in the pipeline. The H-60 is indeed a J Moore model that has been LOD'ed by Rob Nieuwenhoven. Not close to AI but it is a "filler" until a true AI model is created. I have 10 of these on a Ft Rucker pack, and they do more of less Ok. I must say that this is the BEST H-60 ever built for FS, including payware, I know as I was a crewchief for over 5 years on the Hawk, and I find Jordans model looks almost a perfect match. It would be fantastic if anyone could really use the base model and create an true AI out of it.
PS. I D/L the model that Victory says, but it's huge. It was bigger than the H-3, almost like a H-53, so, I discaded it's use.

It is usually easier to create a new model than to use someone else's work.
Hey, I saw one of those flying on Friday when I was in DC. I wonder who was in it?

Well, the H-3 is already created, that leaves the H-60 to be done. Jordans base model is available to rework on but it is on a format I don't have, and I do not have any experience creating any models.

lewis,
How much bigger, was the scale between the 2 off? I never noticed in the sim, but real world the -60 is about 10' longer than the Sky Pig.

In my opinion, quite much bigger. See screenies. The comparison H-60 is Jordan Moore's model and the H-3 is by Rob Nieuwenhoven, Chris Jones and Mal Lloyd. I have parked parallel to Navy's H-3 at the Roosy Roads Naval base many times and definitly, the H-3's are bigger than the Hawk. Lewis

A couple more. First screenie, side view, second, top view, in both shots, they are one on top of the other. As you can see, there is a big diference in size.

In this last set of screenies, you can compare the diference between both H-60 and the H-3.

Lewis
The specs on both a/c per unofficial sources:
UH-60
length - 64'10"
height - 16'10"
rotorspan 53'8"
H-3
length - 54'10"
height - 16'10"
rotor - 62'
So it looks like the JFAI one is closer to actual compared to the H-3 ?

According to Wikipedia
CH-47
Length: 98 ft 10 in (30.1 m)
Rotor diameter: 60 ft 0 in (18.3 m)
Height: 18 ft 11 in (5.7 m)
UH-60
length - 64'10"
height - 16'10"
rotorspan 53'8"
See screenies. Again the H-60 is directly above the H-47 for comparison.

lewis,
Nice job on the screenies and I never noticed it before since I started using the JFAI in place of my long used HC model. That JFAI model is out of scale for sure. I did noticed the H-3 pilots are out of scale for the model, who let their kids in the cockpit?
At little real world comparison having seen both the -60 and -47 next to each other with the blades folded, about the same fuselage lenth, the 98' must included the blades.
Anyway, back to the original thread, any release date on your H-3 repaint, would like to get HMX-1 up in the sim.

Yeah, Lewis, are you gonna release the VH-3 paint ? As an H-3 "plank owner" (HS-3 1962) I would like another Sea King flying around in my skies.
On the sizes . . . is there something like an official FS tape measure to put along side all three to see which one is modeled the correct size ?

Answered my own question. Found a "measuring stick" on avsim from AIaardvark. Headed off to FS to do some measuring.
