Military AI Works

Guys,

This weekend I have been struggling with Rory Kelly's CH-46 and CH-53. It should be possible to convert these helo's to AI models, but it got me very frustrated

I think I tried just about everything. First I merged the original files from hovercontrol.com with the files in 'ai_helos.zip' by Holger Sandmann and Rob Nieuwenhoven. To check if they would work, I changed the FDE type from AI to normal, and then they showed up nicely in the aircraft selection menu in FS9. But: they didn't show up as AI in the sim.

Then I downloaded a complete miramar AI package from flightsim.com (knkx_ai2.zip), including both helo's. I suspected there was something wrong with the .air of aircraft.cfg files. No luck. Still no AI helo's in the sim.

The CH-46 and CH-53 just don't show up at any field. When I replace the lines in Aircraft_KNKX.txt with any other AI model it works just fine, so it can't be the AFCAD or flightplan. Parking for the helo's is available; radius, codes and types do match.

I have several AI helo's in my sim, some of them modified with the forementioned files from Holger Sandmann and Rob Nieuwenhoven. All work fine, except the CH-46/CH-53. Such a shame as I'm working on a package for Camp Pendelton

So: long story short: does anyone have the CH-46 and/or CH-53 flying as AI? Would that anybody please help me?

I have a couple of 46's and 53's flying around KNGU. I used the hovercontrol models and used the stemme air file with them. not true ai if i remeber correctly.

sometimes some aircraft are just too big for the parking spots on the airport.

Make one really huge parking spot in afcad and see whether the helo shows up.

I have used both helos CH-46 and the CH-53 from Rory Kelly as AI in a couple of sceneries. I only have one CH-53 in a Eduards AFB pack, and some H-46 and H-53 in a New Rivers MCAS pack. Make sure that the parking radius is big enough for them and as FDE, use the "stemme_as_helicopter_2.air" for both, which is design for bigger helos. Important, don't place too many, they will slow down your sim.

PS The CH-47 on the screenie was replaced with a Nick Black's real AI Chinook.

I too, have a CH-46 and a -53 converted AI flying around NGU, NTU & NKT. I just followed the directions in Holger Sandmann and Doug Callihan's ai_heli zip files 1 through 7 and they appear and work okay. Try what andras1 suggested with a big parking spot. I've had that stump me a few times.

Strange, I am using 'stemme_as_helicopter_2.air' too. May I ask the size of the parking spots you use for them in the AFCAD?

Checked with Afcad prog. and the radius is " 85.30 " on both scenarios, Eduards and New Rivers. Did you check the "title" on the aircraft config file matches the title on the F/P's? Lewis
