I like the gun camera pics. Right in the cross hairs.

I think Carrier pilots are the best in the world. Being able to land on a tiny strip in the middle of the ocean pitching and rolling.

lets leave the Air Force/Navy game on the football field guys This will probably happen more and more often as the F-22 is used in more exercises, just like every other fighter that takes parts in these things, nothing really to write home about...

Wonder how long before we see one of those printed on a UAV.

Wonder if that F-15E has a UAV kill marking on it from the one they shot down in Afghanistan.

If I was a Naval Aviator and was lucky to score a missile kill on a USAF Raptor I would make sure EVERYONE knew it! I would put decals on my plane, truck, locker, squadron car, mailbox, garage, side of my house, and I would even pay to have some shirts and hats made!

Especially since the Air Force worked so hard to denounce the VFA-11 F/A-18F kill on a Raptor a while back.

Ok, I have to say, that is the gayest thing I've ever seen, and I am a Naval Aviator. But that's what happens when you let Prowler guys go over to Hornets. You would NEVER see any self respecting REAL Fighter Pilot ever put a simulated kill on an airplane. Kills happen all the time in training, you kill and get killed, that's why it's training. All of our jets would look like they had digital camo if we painted every sim kill on the side. That's ridiculous!!!!! Stick to jamming and leave the Fighter stuff to the pro's, or at least act like you belong on the playing field!

That particular F-15E actually has 2 UAV kills. One recently and one during it's last deployment. I'll find out if they painted the kills on it.

Thanks Scott. I thought of you when that story broke. I was hoping you might have some inside info. I'm not sure if shooting down your own side's UAV is something to be proud of.....

No it's not something to be proud of, it's still considered a Blue on Blue. However......at least they actually shot something down for real, not a simulated kill, sorry if I came across to strong, but jeez!!!!!

I'm no pilot but I could not agree with you more-and I for one don't think you came across too strong-after all a sim kill is a sim kill-nothing more to it really...

Huge discussion on this on a naval aviation forum I frequent. Funny too as the Growler has no gun!
Maybe Rotorhead can chime on this story about a Bug vs. E-2 shoot down after the Hawkeye crew bailed and the plane kept flying.

That is a true story, an East Coast E-2 caught fire on a flight over the Med, it got soo bad the crew bailed out.....but the mighty Hawkeye kept on a flyin!!!!!! They called in one of the only armed Hornets at the time...all he had was gun ammo. So he rolled in and took out the Hawkeye before it went feet dry and caused more damage. TINS! Now that I might paint on my jet...
