Transferring MAIW files from one PC to another

Hello!
I'm sure this is a question you must have been asked before, but here goes: I have just got a new PC, and have re-installed FS2004 on it. I copied all my old FS2004 files onto a portable hard drive, and am in the process of taking them off that and merging them with the new installation. Now, with regards the MAIW packages, do I need to install them from scratch again (removing existing AI aircraft from the folder) or can I simply just port it all across and it'll work??
Also, the callsigns voicepack files - where are these located once installed, and if they are in a folder from an existing install, can that also be bought across and merged with new installation???
I hope I made sense there!
Any help would be gratefully received!
thanks
Steve

I just got a new computer a few weeks ago. I just copied all the MAIW aircraft folders, traffic files, and anything else from MAIW from the external drive to the new computer. Everything worked fine.

So IOW, you copied everything to an external HD and then copied from there to the new computer?

I have lost count of the amount of times that I have had to re-build my FS9 system. I install FS9 and FS9.1, plus of course the FS9.cfg and Flight Simulator Files and then FE, GE and Active Sky, and then restore the backup of the FS partition over the top.
Never had a problem.

If you want to backup the whole FS2004 folder you have to copy the following folders:
Aircraft
Addon Scenery
Scenery
Texture
Sound
Gauges
Modules
and the scenery.cfg file.
These are the things that will be modified when using addons.
When I have to reformat, I make a backup of this folders, and when done reinstall the game and copy all these things in the main FS2004 folder owerwriting when prompted.
It always worked fine.

Thanks, that's a useful list!
I take it the modified voice file is in one of those folders?
I would also consider this folder:
\Documents and Settings\[your user name]\My Documents\Flight Simulator Files
(on my Windows XP FS9 set-up)
I believe it's for your saved flights?

You're welcome!
Yes, FS Files also contains the flightplans you make with the game's editor, but from the structural point of view the files contained in it won't affect the game if you don't copy it to a new install. Modified voice file... if you mean the voicepack, I think it is in the Sound folder!
