My translation
ROME - Italian AF is suffering from budget cuts especially on training and maintenance resources, which will use 12.3% of the 14,28 bln. € assigned to the armed forces. In order to reduce the logistics and make more money the Air Force has sold 20 Typhoons from the first block, hoping to be able to sell them as quality second hand aircraft to Romania (which will be buyng F-16s) or other allied countres. Air forces of the future will be standardized on only two aircrafts, Typhoons and Lightning II, but at the moment there are also Tornados (80 vehicles received an mid-life update) and 55 AMX fighters updated to the Acol standard, four of which are based at Herat, Afghanistan. About 50 further non-updated AMXs may be purchased by the US which would give them to the Afghan AF, but this has yet to be confirmed.
