I only seem to have one layout when i bring up the sim. the second layout apperars but with no Texture's on the aircraft
Also the teo seat version is completely not apperaring when i start up the sim either. and i have made flightplans for them just to see if they worked and most of them are not

First are you trying to use this as AI or user aircraft. If AI check that the "sim=" and "model=" entries are correct cos this is a common cause of aircraft not showing up, also check to see if your [fltsim.0] etc entries are running in sequence. If its for user aircraft, the models shouldn't show in the aircraft selection menu, you'd need to use something like AirEd to ammend them so that they are usable.

I want to use it as an AI model, i will check those things that you have said.
Also there only seems to be two models in the aircraft folder and in the folder from MAIW, So how do you get the other models?

There are only 2 models. Fernando only made a limited number of his models, usually only in 1 loadout option.

Note the model types there mate. The "model=" line. For your 2 seater you have 2 different versions "model=b" and "model=n" The textures are different for the B and N models, and so if you are using a texture for a B model for the N's they won't show up. Fernando has the texture names differently as well, "M2kN_t.bmp" and "M2kB_t.bmp" respectively. So make sure you are using the correct ones. You can usually pretty simply rename them to the correct version if you are lucky. Same applies to the single seater. There is a model=(blank)" and a "model=5" make sure they are correct for the texture you are using.

Fernando actually released two versions of the B model. Michael's Egyptian paints are for the original two seat model and the paints are named differently.
The two seaters that MAIW are using are from the m2000bn_ai.zip (Mirage 2000B/D/N), Michael's paint are for the m2000b_ai.zip.
The two single seat versions are from m2000_ai.zip (Mirage 2000C, Mirage 2000-5)

I was able to produce the "other models" by using the alpha channel of the texture. Basically I have made some parts invisible, the weapons, the drop tank(s) and pylons to produce the extra "models".

Is there no end to the cunning that this team has?

Alpha channels are often used for shine/reflection, but how do you use them to "hide"? Is it just a predetermined function built in to the specific model, or can you use an alpha channel in this way for most models?

Yes you can. Look at the screenie included, the center tank is in the main texture but if you look to the upper right corner, you'll see the Alpha channel box, in that figure you can see the center tank "erased" by painting it black. Lewis

Most model makers by default make the alpha channel to be used as a reflective surface. The exception is Craig Ritchie. If you look at the Aardvark and Fruit Stand aircraft they have specific relective models. With Fernando's Mirages we were just lucky that he had not done that and I was able to break up the flight lines with various models using the alpha channel to achieve this.

The alpha channel "trick" to create different loadouts also works on Fernando's F-4 Phantom and Tornado models.
MIKE JG wrote:But there is a catch......

The aircraft shadow will be that of the original model showing all parts.

Correct.
