Check out this video of the new VRS F/A-18 SuperHornet for FSX. Probably one of the top if not THE top FS military style video I've ever seen.

Wow, very nicely done. I need to shop this week for a FSX machine, the VRS on FS9 is great, but the new version is better in every way!

I just got done watching all four of his TBirds videos.

I honestly can't believe what I just saw. He recreated an entire TBirds demo. And did it by doing all the flying himself with the Recorder module!!!!! No video trickery.

He had to break it up into 4 parts because of the 10 minute YT limit but that whole video as one, has got to be the single best Flight Simulator video for military related flying ever created. I am just blown away with what he did and the precision with which he did it.

Absolutely speechless.

I think one of the big problems with FSX, is that it released before the hardware was available to really show it. A lot of people were soured on the frame rates because their system was not ready for it. Now the hardware is catching up and people are seeing FSX the way it was intended to be.

I was hoping that FSX was a glorified version of FS9. What made me mad was a lot of add ons (scenery, utilities, aircraft) will not work with FSX. Been nice to transfer all your AI over to FSX without having to start over again.

I think MS have been guilty of doing this ever since I first started playing with Flightsim. I seen to recall in the dim and distant past raging a my PC because it would not run FS5 as well as the promo videos. My PC upgrades/replacements have always been driven by the need to make FS run that little bit better and I must have spent several Thousand pounds over the years chasing the impossible dream of "AS REAL AS IT GETS".

I think Mr Gates and those nice people at Intel must have come to some sneaky arrangement to design the next version of FS to only work properly on kit that was right at the cutting edge, therefore forcing us to upgrade on a regular basis to get the best out of the sim.

I have a quad core 2.8 ghz pc with 6 gb of ram and FSX was still choppy. it came with a geforce 9100, so i'm thinking with a new card and power supply I should be good. I really hope VRS keeps making stuff.

My specs are better than that and with 16 gigs of RAM and I still can't get it smooth. Now, I do run a very heavy AI and add-on system but still...my specs are top of the line on a machine a few years beyond release date.

I think people make trade-offs in the amount of detail and amount of AI. Either that or all of the viruses on my machine just slow it down. FSX is great...I just can't run it like I run FS9 and that's not acceptable to me at this point.

Wow.. now that Superbug will be a must have.

As for FSX, I'm running an E8400 C2D at 3.6 with 4gb or ram and a 512mb 9800GTX+.
My FSX runs and looks awesome at 1650x1080 (I know, not very high by today's setups)with 8xS FSAA and 8x anio. Only the heavy cities with multiple busy airports and massive AI loads slow it down. I average in the mid-high 30's with extended periods in the 70's for frames.
