I have just got an aircraft for ai and it is classed as GA, how do i change it to Airliner?

Are you talking about the feature to enable/disable airliner traffic and GA traffic? Then you simply assign a callsign to the aircraft in aircraft.cfg file:
atc_airline=BELGIAN AIRFORCE

and that changes it to airliner?

I assume that you are referring to this in the context of which traffic slider needs to be moved to control whether an ai aircraft shows up?
