RAAF BASE, EAST SALE, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA

Hi friends,
Well its been a while coming due to having some time off from scenery design but I can now tell you that it won't be long, RAAF Base East Sale is on track and going through the beta testing stages.
This quaint little base is home to RAAF Roulettes team which spend most of there time travelling to nearly every airshow and many other events in Australia, large and small, city and bush.
While I can't as yet show pic's of the base scenery, I can present you with a new model designed for that scenery.
All we really need now is really good AI-model of the PC9a, as the model used in RAAF-AI package is not quite an AI model, if you get what I mean.

Repaint's of the Leemore Super Hornet's in RAAF 1sqn & 6sqn as published. These hornets have a ever so slight greenish upper fuselage colour in real life but are slightly different in tone to the weathered A/B models in real life.

The latest model to be added to East Sale, an APC on a trailer. This trailer model is not present at night.

Ok Dan,
I'll put it away for a while, somebody may request it at a later date. That goes for the additional updates I've done for YAMB Amberley and YWLM Williamtown.

And the colours keep rolling out.
They really do give the basic airport scenery a bit of a lift. It would be SH@t hot if I could get them animated to drive around the compound.

I may upload the YMES scenery to Flightsim.com once I've cleared the APC's and Trucks off the Apron. There's a fair dozen or more different types to remove. I'll do it next week incase something else comes up at MAIW. Not sure yet if any of the APC, semi's or body trucks will be included in this particular scenery addition due to interest elsewhere.
This is the most recent addition to the collection of trucks.

Please do , I am looking forward to an updated YMES as the existing one is a little dated.
I like flying to and from Mil bases in Australia. I admire your vehicles and wish they were in
the scenery. Would give more realism to the fields. Only wish I could do it myself.

Nigelf,
I can remember the days when I used to go to Sim websites and say the same thing about scenery designing. Those days there was very little people that would help you and information was scarce. These days I don't think that excuss really works for me, if least if you not willing to give it ago as its not rocket science, it more like adding the dots.
The more you play with it, the better you get and it really is a great hobby once you get the basic's down pat.
There are excellent titorials by Mike on this forum to get you started, you just need to purchase the FSDS program which is not over the top and give it a go.

hi Transport Pilot. Have considered your comments and will give it a go. Nothing ventured,
nothing gained. However at the moment I am using an older version of YMES. I have all of
the sceney files installed from RAAFai but there is one building that refuses to show
properly. It is the fire station and truck. These are just grey shaoes. I have checked all
files and they are present. Perhaps there is an exclude file that is preventing the textures
being visible. Have you any idea what I need to do to fix this situation?
Regards Nigelf

When it comes down to the old RAAF-AI scenery I have little knowledge of how it was put together.
It is strange that you are getting only a shadow and not a grey untextured model. I can't check it my self as I have stripped all the unused RAAF scenery from my PC. There are excludes used in the RAAF-AI sceneries which might be the cause. You will need to run a full search for all the names used for this airport such as YMES, East Sale, etc, as it could be coming from a different scenery package that you have loaded at sometime. I also think you need to dowload Nova & VOD textures if I remember correctly, it was a real pain. I never got RAAF Base Richmond to show properly until the version in VOZ took over.
I really encourage you to have a go at modelling, there are some excellent tutorials to get you started on the MAIW website by Mike G and there are plenty of people willing to offer advice when you get stuck, start off with a basic hanger and work up from there. As for textures, try and start with photos that are in scale so you don't need to fiddle with them to much in photoshop to make it look the correct size or angles, or simply use somebody elses textures with there permission of course.

My mistake, &(spelling). The shapes are untextured. Just basicly white. Perhaps it is an exclude file lurking somewhere. I did have VOZ installed at sometime but have it disabled. Perhaps I will switch it on again and see if that alleviates the fault. Thanks for your reply.
