Good find Starlifterfan.
Not long ago I purchased the F-15E(a bit pis*ed about that), & was about to buy the F-15C. Oh well, some you win, some you lose.
Alphasim releases their stuff for free after a time as well I think.

Nice and I can finally get the Harrier! Alphasim does release older payware, I had this happen after I was on an T-34 kick after the MAIW packages came out, not long after Alpha release it as freeware!

Thats how I found about the releases, I was going to buy the F-15c , and looked over at the freeware page onlly to see the F-15C under freeware. This happened with me when I bought the C-141 from Alphasim, only to see the plane on flightsim as freeware!.. No complaints here, these things happen. Happy flying guys!

Their Westland Future Lynx is also freeware now...For what it's worth, it should've always been freeware, or used for AI. :?

Thanks for all the heads up guys, I went ahead and merged these posts into one.

I will also add another military model that just became available:

FSD's C-17: http://www.fsd-international.com/Downlo ... nstall.htm

Doesn't have a 2D panel or sound but those are easily substituted with others that are already available. The VC was only partially finished but since it's free, we can all live with that. I have had this one from back when I purchased their T-38 payware package years ago, this model was a "bonus" added onto the back of that payware package. It's actually a great looking external model with opening cargo doors and fully modeled interior with an Abrams tank sitting inside.

It's been an amazing freeware free for all this week for military models, Iris, AlphaSim and now FSD!! I guess good things come to those who wait.

It's not quite obvious! :)
Select the Northrop T-38 Talon all the way down as it was part of a combined package and you'll be fine!

And another great freeware release on AVSIM, this one's the traditional freeware from the start model by Mehlin Rainer.

http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?Ca ... LID=147384

The Su-7, with two models, clean and loaded. It comes with very nice 2D panel, nice VC, a HUD that displays in KM and M instead of feet and knots, working drag chute for landings, a custom sound set and some other nice features like realistic engine spool times and an afterburner/reheat that takes a realistic amount of time to light off. She handles like a truck as I imagine a loaded Su-27 would in real life. Overall IMO this is a payware quality model comparable to some of AlphaSim's releases from 2006-2008. It does seem a bit hard on FPS though, it's fairly light on the polys at around 25K which is 2 to 3 times less than the top end payware models so it might be due the VC. It's got less than 400 downloads so far which means it's still a pretty good secret.

Thanks for the review, Mike.
I downloaded it as soon as I saw it but I haven't played with it yet. I admit that I thought it was AI considering the source. Maybe he will do an AI version.

Sweet! Just ran across this exchange on the new Iris forums:

"Do you have any idea when the FS 2004 Phantoms will b avilable for purchase? Thank you."

IRIS - David Brice Post subject: Re: Sale of the FS2004 PhantomsPosted: Mon May 03, 2010 10:33 am

The Phantoms will be made freeware and part of the classics range as soon as I can get hold of uncorrupted installers.

Iris has exceeded their bandwith, does anyone know where else I can find their F-14 & F15E?

Hmm that was the only place unless you purchased the models prior to the freeware bonanza (Had the FS9 F-14 since it was released). Not sure of any other sites hosting.
