Aerosoft A-10.......

Just wondering if anyone still flies this baby? I was looking for some repaints or hopes someone modded the panel/AC to A-10C standards.

Still fly it, it's one of my favorites. Although, for years I've wanted to address the "mushiness" in the control response, that and the trim is way too sensitive. It's got some quirks but hey, the gun fires and it can launch flares!

I've only done one proper repaint for it, a 66th WPS flagship repaint for a Nellis based bird. I can send you the relevant bmp files if you want them.

I appreciate the offer, I sent a PM. As for "mushiness", there's a Configuration update for it over at Flightsim.com, look for: http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=146783. I don't know if this corrects the "mushiness" because my flight stick broke so I haven't been able to fly this week with it. If you try it soon let me know how she does....

As for the A-10C mod I think it would be neat to re-do the panel a bit & add another MFD. It would be a perfect fit to your 66th WPS, since they operate the C's.

I fly it regularly in FS9 for a military VA (66th WPS at LSV as well). Was talk on the Aerosoft forums on working on the FSX conversion, but I think that ideas is dead. Tweaked the trim, this update fixed the slow roll rate and turn radius, she now turns on a dime and gives you change back! I'm waiting for the DCS A-10C package and maybe get some panel ideas from that to upgrade to a "C" standard for FS.

Victory103,
I fly FS9 more than FSX anyways so that doesn't hurt my feelings. I'd be glad to help with a mod for this beauty to bring it up to the C standard. Hit me with a PM.

That update link did indeed fix the trim up nicely but it is still very squirrelly in pitch for some reason. Almost like the C of G needs to be tweaked. A project for a rainy day I suppose.

The 2D panel is easy enough to alter if you have a pre existing guage already in mind to swap in there for the MFD. It's just a matter of making a new cockpit background bmp and cutting holes in it, then placing your guages.

well I tried & this is what I got so far....

I read July's Combat Aircraft & it had an article about the A-10C in A-Stan so this got me drooling. This article spoke about the Situational Datalink (SADL) capability & how it allows the hogs to see everything in their area including convoys, fob's etc. So I decided to use a map for the left MFD. I left the right one alone for now....

Does anyone know if with the "C" upgrades if they got a better autopilot, or are they still using the original one?

Nice job, tying to contact S. Printz who designed HUD's for both the F16 and F18.

Trying to research that autopilot question, in the sim I use FSNav for the autopilot and as a poor mans SADL as I can display other MP aircraft when online.

And it appears that Aerosoft is now developing an FSX native A-10 model:

Great news, thought I might have to shelf the Hawg as I transition to FSX here soon. I hope Aerosoft goes with the A-10C, if not I am sure Iris will get it right.

Man, I have got to get a good pc to run FSX, that A-10 looks awesome! The guy at Best Buy told me this pc would be more than enough...he lied! I personally would love a good F-16. I am hoping VRS will do one next!

RE: VRS. From what I've read on their forums, the only things on their horizon are a "Tac Pack" for the FSX version of the SuperBug and an F version. Nothing else.

Or maybe not....

Taken directly from their forum from one of the Aerosoft folks:

You might know we were planning to do a A-10 for FSX. However there now seems to be two other teams working on similar projects. Now with one we had no problems as we feel quality will prevail but with two competitors it becomes hard to invest serious money. Besides not a lot was done so far and we can reuse what was done for other things.

But.... we still want to do a project like this. Here's a list, please discuss amongst yourselves to come up with a suggestion to Aerosoft.

U-2C/ER-2
F-5E/T-38C
A-37/T-37
