Not for AI but the FS2004 VRS Superbug.

I wanted this paint scheme for so long and had actually started working on it more than a year ago.
After the news of the new service pack with new texture mapping I stopped. But since there was no information on the service pack for quite a long time I finally decided to finish the paint scheme even if it might only be usable for a short time and will require further work after the update.

Very Nice! I hope you'll make this available. I have not touched my VRS paintkit yet.

What is the latest information from over there for the FS9 version? I hardly ever log on to their forums any more since it seems like they've all but given up on the FS9 version.

Me too. As far as I remember they wanted to finish some FSX stuff first and then work on the FS9 service pack.

Nice job, agree about the forums, as I am about to transition to the FSX version. I will say I had the best customer service for any payware product from Varmint!

Hmmm... does this aircraft really exist? I have a Super Hornet in my modelling stash and I would like to avoid a grey finish...

VFC-12 does not fly Super Hornets.
The paint scheme exists on F/A-18Cs.

I also did a second scheme.
Based on an F/A-18C that was accidentally painted in NSAWC colors instead of the standard VFC-12 colors

Just got em thanks, the scale model decal sheets look to be great for flight sim painters, do you or other painters use these?

Both repaints are now available at AVSIM and flightsim.com.
The filenames are:
vrs_fs2004_fa18e_vfc12_no21.zip
vrs_fs2004_fa18e_vfc12_no22.zip

It depends. I usually do an intensive internet research for decal sheets for the paint schemes I would like to paint. If they are the right quality and size (the bigger is the better) it is just a matter of cutting out, resizing and placing.
When the quality is not sufficient I use the decals on a background layer and then draw the details myself.

I suppose my fellow repainters do it in a similar way.

I agree with Hawk, it always help when you can find suitable reference material on the web; I'm a plastic modeller so I have about thirty years worth of collected decal sheets (most of it admittedly of no use except to retro paints) but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and draw your own, like these below, which I had to do for some Harrier paints of mine. But the secret is to definitely hit the search button, sometimes you don't know what you'll find.....

This one I couldn't find on the web anywhere so I just made a composite of various elemnts and presto - took about ten minutes to do.........
