Jumping Hornet

Hi all, waiting the upcoming Rafale package, I tried to use the FDE coming from the AI SU-33_W from Sergey Bunevich, with the NBAI Harrier.
Fantastic result, with Harrier taking off and landing on some carriers around my FS9 seas.
Same result with the old good Tomcat.
Unfortunately, It doesn't work with the NBAI F-18. The Hornet starts to bounce around, till when it disappears.
Has someone an idea of which parameters can be modified in the aircraft.cfg or .air file to avoid this problem?
Ciao, Giorgio

After tenths of tests, it doesn't bounce anymore, but now it can't fly.
After take off it starts to move around the three axis randomly till when it falls...
HELP!!!

This problem has been worked on since the models inception. Mike M. knows more about it than anyone.

I know Dan

I think that almost, if not all FDE for AI, coming from Mike.
BTW, another step forward has been done.
Now it flies

It seems that the pilot was drunk...

But it flies....
Once the cruise altitude is reached, it continuosly turns left and right against the ideal route, and continues to wave also during the approach.
Other tests will follow, hope to have a good FDE soon.
Cheers, Giorgio

Giorgio,
Who created the SBAI Su-33 FDE that you started with? I created one for Sergey (through Rysiek) for the SBAI Su-33 used as a dry model, but am not sure whether he ever used it. Was the SBAI Su-33 FDE that you used created specifically for a "wet" model (carrier version)? I created one, but I wasn't very happy with it, so if I remember correctly, I never released it for public use.
Using an AI FDE created for one AI model with another AI model as you have done can cause many different performance issues if you do not properly adjust such things as the x, y and z coordinates of the CG, engines, contact points, etc. and make the various other appropriate parametric changes necessary to adjust the rotation, takeoff, climbout, cruise, descent, downwind, approach and landing speeds to approximate those of the new AI model. I'm sure this all sounds straight forward and easy, but it isn't. Only the smallest of changes can many times cause some pretty significant imbalances that lead to some pretty crazy and difficult to fix problems. For obvious reasons, "wet" AI FDE's are by far the most difficult to work with in this respect.

Hi Mike, what I have used comes from SB pack for Su-27 version 2. 14_AI-Su-27_v2.zip from Avsim.ru, also available on Sergey site.
In that pack, there are two version of the SU-33, a Wet version and a Dry version. In this one, at the beginning of the aircraft.cfg, is clearly stated that the FDE is your. Not for the Wet version. In the readme.txt of the package, credits for FDE go to Scorpio9999 (Sergey Ivanov)
Regard the second part of your post, I know and understand what you mean. It is absolutely not easy. This is not the first time I try to use AI for carrier operations... This is the first time that I obtain something usefull. I know that I'm far from a perfect FDE, but I'm not searching for perfection, at present, I'm more than happy to see Harriers and Tomcats operate from an aircraft carrier.
I hope to obtain something usefull also for the Hornet.
Thanks, Giorgio
