There are two AI models hidden in the freeware Alphasim A-3 Skywarrior package. They are in the model folder.

Did anyone have a closer look at these models?
How do they compare to the MAIW standards regarding AI models (polygon number, LODs)?

Well the initial test is the fact that it uses the full texture set of the full model. That is going to serious hamper you to start with.
Also every Alphasim AI I have come across, so far, are only 1 LOD, so again it will hit you if you have a carrier or airfield full of them. It seems that they try to help by cutting out some of the intricate detail rather than a genuine AI model.
I just had a look and found the one LOD has 23,566 polys.
To give you an equivalent, at close range one of these is the on a par with 7 of Nick's F/A-18Cs, at 5nm one of these is on a par with 79 of F/A-18Cs.

Thanks, Steve.
I assumed something like that.

But having served in a squadron with A-3, and having flown on several - they still fly in my AI world, along with Mike Stone's EC-121.
Good thing they are based at NAS Agana Guam where there is realtively little traffic.
