Exceeded max # of login's error/Login Problems

Every time I come to the log in page I get that error.
I get in by using the anti-bot code, but I also have checked the box for 'log me in automatically each time I visit"...
Any ideas?

Kevin it's been acting weird lately. If I use Google Chrome, it never saves my login data. If I use Firefox, it does. Not sure what is going on.

Never had that.
I am using M$ IE8 and also IE9 which takes a little of getting used to.

I just got this message too.
I don't think this is an error. A lot of FS sites have come under increased bot/spam attack lately, for some reason.
Just the other week I had the same "maximum login attempts" message at UGA, and AIG had to disable new forum member registration too.

Once again today I had to go through the expanded login verification process. I hadn't logged on to the site for nearly a day and yet somehow I had exceeded the max number of attempted logins prior to this attempt.
I can only assume that some sort of automated spamming program was trying to login to the forums using my username prior to me trying this afternoon.
So for all of you out there experiencing this issue and for all of you who have emailed us lately needing assistance to get back in, you're not alone. Hang in there while we try to figure out what is going on.
Drew may very well be correct about an increase in attacks from spam bots. Just now I deleted a new user who's first post was written entirely in the Greek alphabet. Even though it was all in Greek, I'm pretty sure it had something to do with Viagra......
I've been deleting at least one user a day lately for the exact same reason as this one.

Yeah, I thought he was Greek at first but although his location was Cyprus, his website had a Russian address. Sure enough google translated it from Russian. It was an advert for T-Shirts, as was his site. So nothing that would help you out.
I would have banned him and his IP but I don't have the power.
On the login attempts, I think that you are right. It is a good job that nobody here is using a simple password that can be guessed in 5 attempts.

So far we have been lucky I would say.

We're going to clear out the inactive accounts to see if that helps, less usernames to try to chose from.

New personal record.....
Cialis spammer joined at 0001 and I banned the account at 0014.....
That's two spammer bans about 4 hours tonight just so you guys know what we're dealing with right now.
I almost wonder if these are human beings who are paid to sign up on internet forums.

Heads up: I just increased the security settings for the forums. One of the measures is that your IP address will be checked on spam blacklists when you post (and when you try to register, but if you can read this then you already have

).
Please inform us of any anomalies when trying to post. If you can't post at all, please send an e-mail to greg at militaryaiworks dot com.
