Guys,

Just wanted to wish everyone at MAIW my kindest regards and the best of Luck, before I jet off to the beautiful holiday resort of Kandahar, Afghanistan for a lovely 4 month paid vacation courtesy of Her Majesty.

From what I can see there is already a huge amount of work going into projects and releases under the MAIW banner, and now is a very exciting time for Miltary AI enthusiasts. When I get back we'll have FSX as well so it will be even better. I hope that the models I have produced will get packaged and released soon so that the world can benefit form them, and that the rest of the models others are working on can broaden the horizons for all.

Many thanks for all the kind support and words, and Ill be keeping an eye on things whenever I get chance.

All the best to all.

Keep your head down, Nick. Khandahar is no joke! I'm 3 months into a 15 month tour to Kabul. It's a bad time to be in Afghanistan, lots of ACM activity. We've had 3 VBIED's this week alone! stay safe.

Haste ye back Nick.

And if I can mis-quote President Roosevelt;

"Walk softly and carry a big gun!!!!"

Take care

Keep safe mate, keep the flag flying and the peace secure. My best wishes to you and all your colleagues out there - I'm virtually your neighbour mate and I know of at least two others from this estate who have also been packed off on a Club HM package tour to various parts of the globe and we will all be glad to see you all back soon.
Cheers
Daryl

I'm back in blighty for my weeks R+R. Well 8 days actually. Many thanks to the fantastic 216 Sqn RAF, (sarcasm there) who finally got their act together and got a Tristar to fly on time, after nearly 3 weeks of 24 hour delays. And finally had the balls to fly into Kandahar direct.

Ah well Im at home now and so will be catching up with you all and whats going on. Just been out this morning and bought myself FSX so I'll be playing with that, and seeing what new can be done.

If there are anything needs doing with my AI B-1B and Typhoon packages just give me a shout. I expected to see them out already but can see they are still ongoing, it'd be nice to see them out soon.

Anyway drop me a bell anyone and Ill do my best to post some stuff up on here.

Regards to all and hope you are all well.

Nick

It means that you are back safe and ready, Nick?
Welcome back!

B-1B model:
these need to get a new speed-dependent wing animation; after a hint from Fernando I can add this easily soon. Some delay here is because my home "lab" is still disintegrated (refurbishing :? ...). I hope things get ready until the end of this weekend.

EF Typhoons:
models are re-designed in a way that there are two main sources for F.2 and T.1 + sub-projects for each loadout, this way allowing for one/two lines of LOD development/testing. Color bricks are added :wink:
Animated canopies are implemented, after Psuls technique.
Delay reason: same as above ...

Rysiek, how are you my old mate,

Do you want to send me the model as it stands and the update for the wing sweep animation and I can see if I can get it going??

The last update is "NBAI_B1B_Lancer_v0.23RPP.zip" and I sent it to all the beta(?) group, incl. you, at Nov 18, check yer hotmail account.
If you don't have it I will re-send.
Wing animation is not implemented yet - I will do it immediately when I get my main home PC revitalized :wink:

But if you really want to take the job here is a concept:

Fernando:

Code: Select all

(A:VELOCITY BODY Z, knots) 200 <
  if{ 0 }
  els{ (A:VELOCITY BODY Z, knots) 300 <
          if{ 37 }
          els{ (A:VELOCITY BODY Z, knots) 450 <
                 if{ 66 }
                 els{ (A:VELOCITY BODY Z, knots) 580 <
                         if{ 81 }
                         els{ 100 }
                   }
           }
   }
[/i]

Frank Safranek:
So if this could be accomplished maybe it could be done in five positions -- that should give enough realism:
Speed under 200kts = fully extended (15 degrees) (gear can be down or up)
Speed above 200kts and below 300kts = 25 degrees sweep
Speed above 300kts and below 450kts = 45 degrees sweep
Speed above 450kts and below 580kts = 55 degrees sweep
Speed above 580kts = fully retracted (67.5 degrees)

I've changed a paintkit slightly with "NBAI_B1B_Lancer_v0.23RPP.zip" - chock texture is added.
