AI runway problem

Post by Rotten Ralph »

I have added AI blackhawks to my FS9. For this, I have made a new AFCAD (named it 1COF to overlay on KCOF-Patrick AFB). On this new AFCAD I have done a new runway & parking which all works fine, until the helecopter arives at the runway hold point. It then lines up in the opposite direction of the runway & takes off in the wrong direction.Any ideas anyone?
Just for info, the runway is 1000ft long by 10ft wide, it has start locations at each end & has all the correct parking/apron route/taxiway & runway connectors.

Without looking at the afcad it's difficult to tell.

Also you say that you are overlaying KCOF, is this wise as you may get the two afcads active at the same time. If you are using separate afcads it might be better to use a grass strip or taxiway parallel to the main runway. If you actually want to use the main runway then have only one afcad.

Hi Steve

Sorry, I neglected to say that I was not using the existing runway. I was trying to simulate helecopters taking off virtually from where they are parked, so I put a small runway about 30-40 ft from where they are parked.
It looks like I have found the problem (not long after posting this). It seems that it was as simple as the wind direction set in FS9. I changed the wind direction and all seems to be working now.
I will see if this works on other AFCADS I do for helecopters.

Thanks for replying anyway Steve.

Hi Victory103

Yeah, I shall PM you when I get home from work, so you can try a couple. I am using the hovercontrol AI UH60`s with the stemme as glider model (I picked it up on the hovercontrol site with 3 variations, Army, Navy & special operations.

Thanks very familiar with those models. I was going to add the JFAI but will just add a few of the HC models instead due to scale issues with the JFAI. I have a faster machine now so I can afford to have a few flying around. Good thing is all the repaints fit.

Hi Victory103

Sorry to be a real pain, but I am not very good with the PM thing. I tried to send 3 AFCAD`s + 1 set of flight plans, but I could only attach 2 x files individually & it would not let me attach anything else. Any chance you could pm me your e mail address & hopfully I can send it all in one hit. If not, I understand, and will send via the pm system in a few mails.
PS. Please don`t expect to much of the AFCAD`s, I am still tinkering with other ideas for AI helo`s. My next one will hopefully utilise the Nick Black model choppers.

Regards

Dave
