New flightplans for the European aerobatic teams released so far:
*Red Arrows
*Patrouille de France
*Patrouille Suisse
*Turkish Stars+supporting C-130 and C-160
*Russian Knights
*Swifts

txt with filenames included for the repaints. All the aircrafts fly together around Europe following different tours, but all the teams end up at Fairford on Thursday.
Also included is an Afcad for Salon en Provence, where Patrouille de France's Alphajets are based. I guess MAIW will release the French Alphajets in the future, so it's a simple rework of the default file with some taxiways and a couple aprons.

I finally received the e-mail with the ATC selection results, and I have not been selected.
I would have liked to mix my hobby with a job, but this won't happen. Anyway, I'm starting a new job on Wed so wish me good luck!

But I don't know if I will be able to try again. The next selection should be next year and I don't know if people born in 1984 will be admitted... we'll see, but I hope I will have a good job at that time, it would be a risk to start everything from zero!

That's too bad but as Greg has mentioned it carries no shame . Definately give it another try next yr. at your age you're still young enough . I'll guarantee that as you've passed the written and progressed to the oral interview the difference in percentage points between the selected canditates and you are very small .The selection process if it is any way the same as here (at least as of 2 yrs. ago) it can be quarky . I've seen some really bright and talented folk not make the initial selection and others when they make it to a unit will make you wonder how they had made it so far and really shouldn't be doing on the job training . I used to have a saying "Another one from the shallow end of the gene pool" .Others would turn up and immediately show that they are naturals and would be a joy to train .

No shame at all, that's right! 16.000 person took the first test, only 300 were selected, and I'm glad enough to be among them! I have no idea about the criteria they used for the final selection, but I suppose they considered the candidate's background: in fact, most of the people I "met" on a forum dedicated to this selection had an educational background which allowed them to have a better and more specific aviation knowledge than mine (i.e. they attended an "aviation high school"), or even people who have a good status on IVAO or similar networks.
Also, I must consider that the interview I took was my first ever, and I had no idea about job interviews before. In fact, I've taken several interviews in the last 6 months and noticed that I made several mistakes that time, so expected I would fail.
BTW there is something to point out: the way the interviews are carried out don't allow the interviewer to understand whether a person could do that job.
ALL the interviews I've taken - but one (that is, the most successful) - featured the same questions, such as "Describe yourself", "What do you expect from our company?", "Why did you choose to do this job", "Choose three adjectives which describe your personality" and so on. This way they try to build a framework with definite features, but this doesn' allow the interviewer to understand "hidden" sides of one's personality.
So you can be someone who speaks aviation English very well, loves aviation, is extremely motivated and could as well be able to manage high amounts of traffic, but if you don't have the very features the framework requires you cannot do that job. Unfortunately, this happens in any job interview, even in the one I've taken for the ATC selection, so the consequences you spoke about (talents that are f***ed and idiots that do the job) are very easy to happen.
And above all you have to keep in mind that some people might have been selected because they HAD to be selected!
For example, when I took the interview I met a 19-years old girl whose grandfather used to work as an ATC... and she has been selected! Has she been good enough? Who knows? Or maybe her grandfather had a friend who spoke the the HR manager to have her in? Mysteries...
Anyway, the next selection should start next year (IF there will be another one and IF they have enough money) and it would be my third try (the first was in 2008 and I didn't pass the preliminary test). I don't know what will happen in the future, but if I manage to get a full time job I could as well consider not to try and keep following aviation as a hobby. Tomorrow a new internship (well paid this time!) will start, and if the relationship between me and the employer are good I will have the chance to get a real job... we'll see!
