What's Left?
So what more is left in the USA to cover? From what I can tell you guys have done about every base I think, and an excellent job at that. Is there a lot more bases in the USA that I missed? Can't wait for the next release.
Re: What's Left?
Still plenty left to do, it will never all be done.....

Re: What's Left?
You got it. Nor will I pester you about any upcoming releases. I know you guys like the surprise and so do I.
Re: What's Left?
Packing up two new AI packs for the US Navy tonight. Will release them tomorrow so that's something for you guys to look forward to.
Other than that, we've done A LOT of packages, almost at number 200!
As far as what's left to do in the USA, not sure, I'd have to go through base by base and see. The big ones have been done, most with scenery. But there are still lots of smaller bases, reserve and ANG fields that could be done some day.

Re: What's Left?
Based on the Pt Mugu C-130 and Fat Albert on the front page, I'm guessing one is a Navy/USMC C-130 upgrade post BRAC. I'm probably wrong though. In any case, it will be awesome.

Re: What's Left?
As always to avoid pressure on the guys behind the scenes making the packages, we can neither confirm nor deny what is or what isn't currently in progress or what is planned for the future. I always recommend coming into the forums through the home page as the image rotator is our only form of preview of what may or may not be in the works. Just remember that not everything makes it to a release. Some projects, just like real life get shelved and never see the light of day.
It is good fun though to leave you guys hanging......
Don't see us doing Navy Norfolk any time soon though, we don't really have the models to do that package. Would need a C-2 and E-2 model for starters and we don't have those.
What I will share with you guys is that we have several new, as of yet unknown aircraft and scenery modelers who have gotten very good with FSDS very quickly. They are currently working on some really neat models. Don't ask us which AI models because we won't tell you anyways. Just know that these new models will really add to the international flare around here and they are a welcome addition to the FS9 world when they finally debut on the scene.
We are also working on our first ever joint/group AI model that has several different modelers contributing to its creation. I won't tell you which model this is either because after all, that's half the fun. But I will say with this one that what's old will be new again.

Re: What's Left?
One last thing. What I do know, speaking for myself, is that many of you out there could be great aircraft and scenery modelers if you want to. Just ask our new guys who probably a year ago didn't think they'd be cranking out AI models at this time.
What it takes is just the desire to get started and to ask for help. The knowledge and experience to work with FSDS primarily but also Gmax to limited degree is here. We have tutorials, we have knowledgeable forum members and we have plenty of models and scenery to show for that.
What none of us have is unlimited time to work on these things. A couple hours here, a couple hours there is about all any of us can spare these days.
If there is a specific AI model that you really really want, your best bet is to build it yourself. You don't even have to share it if you don't want to. That's really how MAIW got started and we've been generous enough to share our work since the beginning.
Every modeler here past and present knew nothing about modeling before they started. They all learned and so can any of you if you wish. Time, patience and persistence can get you a lot of places in life and modeling objects for FS9 or even FSX is no different.
/off my soap box, now go out there and win one for the Gipper.....!

Re: What's Left?
I know I have a shit load of models at various stages.
Every time I take a break I always start by doing a test model ,
Just to be sure I still have my eye in.
Few (don't ask if they will ever be finished. I don't know) for example -
SR-71, Gannet (3 view issues), Vulcan, EE Lightning (gear into wing issues, skinny wings), AH1 Cobra (animation probs), X-29 (gear animation issues), X-38, PBY, and the list goes on.
Most are on the shelf because of problems, others because they were just test models.

Re: What's Left?
If you scan the map you'll see pretty much every state has something. There is a master jet base in VA that looks to be complete soon. Just keeping up with BRAC is a challenge in itself with released packages.greyrogue715 wrote:So what more is left in the USA to cover? Good post to let others know anyone can build the models, looks like I should get started on a much needed AI Helo.

Just a few tweaks here and there and you've got a Blackhawk Barry.

You never know, could be a 'Special Ops' version!

Re: What's Left?
Good point there, with a few minor tweaks it could look like the one they found in bin laden's back yard.
Oh any Danny, no lods. Taken me 6 months to get this far!
