DSB F-5 for AI

Post by Grape »

I've been playing around with using the DSB F-5E as an AI aircraft. I can get them to taxi onto the runway and roll down the runway at takeoff speed but they do not get in the air. They just keep going straight off the runway and beyond. I'm using FSX. Any ideas?

I have the AI F-5. It just doesn't look right to me (too short).

I believe I've used the DSB F-5 before without any problems but I think it was with FS9.

If I can't find a solution I'll probably have to paint up some VFC-13 AI F-5's and use those.

I have used them in FS Recorder for dogfight practice, but FSR doesn't work the same as AI aircraft do. A common trick, although it doesn't always work is to change out the airfile with a stock aircraft, in this case the LJ45 might work.

I agree about the AI F-5, but they are good enough for me with a few VFC-13 or -111 repaints.

I've been using DSB F-5s for AI at MCAS Yuma in FSX for awhile with no issues on performance. The only problem I have is that even with dedicated parking and codes in the aircraft.cfg matching those in the AFCAD, my F-5s seem to park in Harrier spots and leave their own spots open. I might experiment with the AI F-5 available.

Keith,

I think I can help you with your parking problem. I was having the same problem. In the aircraft config file, add an S to ATC_PARKING_CODE so it says ATC_PARKING_CODES. I did that and they parked where there supposed to be.

I still can't get them in the air though. Maybe change the air file as some suggested. Did you change anything at all?

Hope this helps you,
