Saw C-5B 87-0034 take off from YSRI today, first time I've seen a C-5 in a good few years. Not counting when the C-5M prototype dropped in, I only saw it parked up
Looks like it must be something to do with US President visit down here soon. Although AFAIK he's not visiting Sydney but Canberra and Melbourne, I guess Richmond is probably the closest solely military base to Canberra. I'm hoping all the associated aircraft come here when he does arrive in Aus, as they did for APEC. Back then Richmond played host to a VC-25A, C-32A, C-37B, and a C-17 or two.





I thought she was going to use RWY28 like everything else before her had, but instead she backtracked 28 and took off on RWY10. Missed rotation shots, but got the goose-bump-raising spool up just across from us
I didn't think the thing was gonna get off the ground, sure used up every bit of runway! She turned left after takeoff and came back almost overhead tracking for Katoomba, absolutely brilliant sound as she passed over.

I'll probably be out of action for a while though, somehow got gunk on my DSLR's sensor and I think it's gonna hafta go in for cleaning

Yeah Drew, I heard it was carrying the president's vehicle and escorts. There got to get them to Cairns as well.
I can't see why he needs a bomb proof vehicle in Australia, like anybody gives a rats bum who he is down here. When they start closing off beaches and roads, place divers in the water because of one person, we kinda think its a little over the top. Like hello, we are an Island of friendlies, some of us any way
