Oh wow! i have just come across an article on the two Saudi camo'd Lightnings. Both F.53s
The top colours are Mid Stone and Dark Earth and the undersides are Duck Egg Blue.
They look a bit special. If anybody wants to paint them up I can give you the serials and links to the modeller articles on them. There is a decal set for one of them out there.

Re: Struck by Lightning....
I've got profiles of two that were tested during 1977 with two variations of camo scheme - what Steve mentioned, and there was also a wrap-around version as well. The schemes didn't last for long, for although they were succesful at low level, there was a significant drag and weight increase which on a Lightning, with its somewhat "limited" fuel capacity, was probably not a good thing, and the aircraft were returned to their natural metal state.
Re: Struck by Lightning....
Yeah, I read that too. Strange how the RAF thought it was worth doing though. Maybe the Brits are better at painting.

Re: Struck by Lightning....
Finally I had time to install this fantastic job. Very good and appreciated.
Installed it and created some FP for test as usual, I have a problem with T55 model.
All four aircraft are untextured. It seems that the aircraft.cfg is correct and point to the right model and texture dir.
The only difference noticed with other aircraft is that there is a fifth texture dir, but I don't think it has any importance.
Someone have had the same problem?
Thanks, Giorgio

Re: Struck by Lightning....
Problem sorted out.
It was not related to the T55 but to the Aircraft.cfg of T54 that is wrong.
In the T54 dir there is the same aircraft.cfg of the T55 model, the method I use to create the Aircraft.txt made the rest.
So, here in attach, the corrected cfg for the T54 model.
Ciao, Giorgio

Re: Struck by Lightning....
Never too late to fix it......
The dirty little secret behind the glitched T.54 and T.55 models is that I never compiled them, simply forgot to. The models in those folders are actually F.53 models, explaining the non-compatibility issue. I honestly didn't fix them because by the time I figured it out, John Young had released his FS9/FSX Lightning models, and I didn't want to take away from his patronage for such excellent models. The Lightning was my first, and quite honestly, IMHO it is a very crude model (we learn by doing). But, over the last two years I have noticed an increased amount of emails regarding this issue, so, upload number 3,001 to AVSIM is the fixed models for the export trainers. If you have package 3, delete the T.54 and T.55 aircraft from your Aircraft directory, then go back and install this small fix package, you don't even need to copy the effects/textures from the fix. I'm truly sorry it took so long, and many thanks to several extremely patient fans.
