I would certainly like to support MAIW. If anyone feels I've wronged them in any way in the past I do apologize for that and would like to set things right. Please contact me if you feel the need, I'm always open to listen.

Beyond that, I would ask MAIW to use the services that FlightSim.Com has to offer to reach the flightsim community. We've tried to make the best file library possible available to everyone and make it easy to submit files. Again, any questions, please do contact me.

Des, not Dan.

But you're absolutely right Steve, I wanted to avoid any accusations on the forums so, Nels, please contact "reconmercs" via PM to clear things up if you haven't already.

Could someone tell me what was this "problem" you keep mentioning? I spend a good part of every day helping people solve problems, I'm sure if you told me what it was we could get it resolved.

I'm trying to provide a valuable service to the flightsim community, but obviously I cannot do that without your support.

Now whilst MAIW will not say that individuals should do with their work but if somebody from an org comes out into he open to ask for information on real or perceived issues then it does seem like an ideal opportunity to talk about them at least. We have all had times when we have have complained that nobody listens to us.

All I would ask is that we don't use the forums in such a way that it could be read that another org is being 'bashed'. Everybody that reads this can see that Nels is registered here and can pm him, as he can pm individuals.

I would suggest using him, much as Greg suggested he contact Dan.
Greg wrote:Hi Nels! It's good to see you paying a visit to our little corner of the AI community.

We decided to move away from uploading to flightsim.com long ago after a couple of incidents with MAIW packages finding their own way into your library.

Desmond Burrell ("reconmercs" here on the forums) is our staff member in charge of uploading to third parties. You may want to send Des a PM to clear things up and see if he's willing to reconsider.

Greg mentions that the incidents occurred some time ago....even stating " long ago ".
Firebird is willing to listen and give Flightsim another chance....

Personally, I like them both. However, ever since the hacking of May 2009, AVSIM has not been the same since.
Even Simviation seems in much better shape than Avsim right now!
Don't take my word for it...I've enclosed screenshots of the FS98 Aircrafts library at Avsim and FlightSim.
There is NO comparison....
[in case you're wondering what FS98 has to do with FS2004, I've discovered that FS98 Aircraft make superlative AI in FS2004 because of their LOW polygon count...]

If uploaded packages are present on multiple sites, this would ensure 'survival' in case of calamity.
Safeguarding files for all flightsimmers, present and future, should also be considered.

It is nor for me to say what the staff at MAIW should do about this....
However, in my opinion, FlightSim deserves a second chance....

As a wise proverb says: Don't put your eggs in one basket.

Speaking on behalf of the contributors and staffers here, it's not a matter of playing favorites between upload sites. It's purely a matter of time. We barely have enough people around here to do what we do these days.

Uploading to third party sites means that one of us has to take the time to get a new package, format it correctly for whatever site it's getting uploaded to and then go through that process of uploading it to that site.

Is that a huge deal? No, but it's just one more thing that has to be done by an ever decreasing number of people who volunteer their time around here who have less and less time for this as the years go by. August 12th will be our 6th anniversary. Very few freeware sim groups have lasted that long.

We do what we can with what little manpower we have.

I hope that clears things up a little.

Thanks to MAIW, my FS9 is now thickly populated with military ai. Although "thickly" might sound as an exaggeration, it's not when one compares what AI was programmed by Microsoft into FS2004.

Anyway, I'd be more than happy to repay you all by volunteering to take up this "chore" of uploading to another third-party site. Especially if it's FlightSim.com...

Consider it my willing contribution and a token of my appreciation for all you've done....and are still doing !!

It's up to you....

I see you already have one volunteer to help with the uploading. If that is not acceptable then how about just giving me a list of new files and where you have uploaded them to and I'll get them from that site and add them to FlightSim.Com. I'll do all the work for you, just give me permission to do it.
