Steve

Do BA use the 757 for cargo these days? Or have somebody use it for them?

That info is slightly out of date. BAWC has never operated dedicated cargo 757's, so presumably the info refers to the cargo going in the hold on BA's pax 757 fleet. That fleet, however, was retired in 2010 and as far as I know, they've all been shipped off to their new owners (mainly DHL, I think?).

Edit: In fact, belly hold cargo can account for a heck of a lot air cargo mileage, resulting in some passenger airlines (albeit some with a miniscule cargo division) ranking in the top 10 on air cargo mileage flown.

Barry,
As already stated the only dedicated cargo resources we have are the 3x B747-8Fs, that have replaced the 3x B747-4F's. The only difference is that whilst the original 3 were in the colours of the operator GSS, Global Supply Systems, the new birds are in BAWC colours. They are still operated by GSS based at Stansted (EGSS).

All the other aircraft in our fleet can and do fly cargo in the hold. We sell cargo space on all our flights and BAWC is a very profitable arm of the airline.

Well it has sorta, and it is sorta coming back in.

The only 757's that BA have are flying under the OpenSkies subsidiary. However, there are reports, internally, that OpenSkies will actually be brought back in house again and therefore the 757 will enter service again, this time with winglets.

I have actually seen a 757W at LHR, last month, in full BA brand i.e. w/o the OpenSkies logo.
