"Kemble Oct 4th 2012.
Just to dispel the rumours, legend and folklore surrounding XH134, she will be outside the Vintage Flyers (ex DeltaJets) hangar at Kemble next week for engine, taxi and systems trails which are scheduled to last until the final CAA "Permit to Fly" submission is made by Vintage Flyers (CAA E4)
on behalf of Canberra 134 Limited, which is the owner's (Midair S.A.) UK operating company for the aircraft. 18 months of heavy inspections and overhauls, both engine and airframe, as well all the landing gears, have been accomplished, in conjunction with the replacement of the old AVPIN start system with RR Avon electric starters. (As per Comet 4.) Various avionics upgrades - such as 8.33 Mhz VHF Comms and FM Immune Navs, Mode S transponders have been made. The navigator's position has been deleted for ease of display operations.
Once the flight test program and further training has been completed during the rest of 2012, XH134 will become a star in her own right, flying alongside her British aviation contemporaries as the only airworthy Canberra. (We think there are no others airborne, but would be happy to be proved wrong - Tom Foscue - is your WJ574 still flying ?) Her web site, corporate sponsorship program, and branding will commence and XH134 has already a full dance card for next year including the Revival and trips to some of her old haunts, like Malta and the Gulf.
We look forward to 2013, and your support, with anticipation -
Midair SA / Canberra 134 Limited"
