Exotic Viper packages?
Exotic Viper packages?
Well, OK maybe that isn't such a great name, but if you search 'Graham King' on AVSIM you get about 47 pages of work. Close to half of it are C-130 and F-16 repaints, I would guess. Certainly a third of it.... Much of it has found life in the Exotic Alberts packages, but it seems a shame to not release proper MAIW packages for all those air forces around the world operating the F-16.
Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Portugal, Italy (formerly), Poland, Greece, Turkey, etc., just to name the NATO countries operating them. Then you got Israel, Egypt, Pakistan and on you go from there. At least we have the Jordanian AF and the Bahraini AF F-16 packages... that is at least a start.
Is it all a function of creating realistic traffic plans? I would think the models and the repaints would be the largest part of that big task, but I am only starting to gain a real appreciation for this now. Probably some would need improved AFCADs/Airbases, correct?
Are there any in the works?

Re: Exotic Viper packages?
I may be able to partially answer my own question -- many of these textures are just the repaints for that particular air force F-16, but not necessarily each and every plane number. That, I am certain, would be time-consuming as hell.

Re: Exotic Viper packages?
Well each and every read me is very detailed and explains what is contained in the packages and who created them, and even provides the tools used. I would not say that it gives instructions.
I have learned a lot of reading thru these forums and following all the incredible work being done -- it just seems to be that we have much of the pieces and parts already, just begging to get bundled up and released.
Is there are dedicated "how-to" thread that I have missed? Because I have looked for one....
I am focusing MY efforts on converting airbases from FS9 to FSX, because, alas, and I am 'one of those guys'.... Maybe that would not stop me from partnering with some of the more talented folks here at MAIW.

You're really violating our first rule about asking for projects and/or release dates. As has been said, I'd the material is out there, go ahead and make it. There's no how-to but it's not rocket science.

Re: Exotic Viper packages?
Some MAIW packages featuring Vipers are:
Indonesian Hawks
Portuguese AF
Oman AF
Bahraini Hawks (right??)
Greek Phantoms
Our Dear Webmaster Greg has released a Belgian package some years ago, it should be available on Flightsim.
Israeli F-16s are being released on Avsim these days.
I can also suggest some Viper related addons on which I had the pleasure to work:
- Italian 37th Stormo (the last 12 Vipers in Italy), which is available on Flightsim. Scenery and flightplans (mine) + 12 beautiful repaints made by fellow forum member Pixy (any news about him, btw???). Look for "Giacomo Gramazio".
- Poznan Krzesiny AB (Poland): you can get my scenery (on Avsim, always look for my name), featuring nice objects by fellow forum members Miljan and Timbob1, on Avsim. Repaints available on Mark's website (marksfsrepaints.jimdo.com) and flightplans made by me available on this very board.
- Skrydstrup AB (Denmark), available in the My projects/packages board, where you should find flightplans too.
Anyway, have a look in the My projects/packages board, there is a lot of interesting stuff which will definitely come in handy to add non-US Vipers in your sim!

What I was hoping to glean from this discussion was some understanding of how these packages/teams come together, and what all goes in to them. Additionally, I suspected that I might learn of a few projects that are in the works already. Why reinvent the tricycle?
And being an FSX user, I think that kinda precludes me from just rolling up my sleeves and pumping one of these projects out -- even if I did have a better handle on how it is done.
James84, thank you, your post was extremely helpful. Since I started with the search function, I have already been thru these threads from start to finish and I have downloaded pretty much everything that you mention. A lot of what you and a few others have done here is just begging to get packaged up and released. I'll say that as a compliment out of respect for your work and that of others, in risk of violating the prime directive.
So OK then. Please leave this thread open, and let's see what I can come up with -- with a little help of course.
Cheers

Rip
Start simple just a couple of aircraft and a few legs on the flightplans
Once you get the hang of things you can add more stuff

Re: Exotic Viper packages?
Roger that, thanks Gary.
I think I might start with Denmark -- GG made a Skrydstrup AB scenery that is just stunning. I had started to make my own in ADE and was starting to kinda feel good about my work, until I saw his.
EDIT:
James84 has posted a very nice set of flightplans for the Danish AF F-16s based at EKSP -- here is the link to that thread.
http://www.militaryaiworks.com/newforum ... ans#p88585
What I have done is taken these flight plans and assigned them instead to Graham King's repaints, which I found in this file called rdaf_ai_pack.zip -- available at AVSIM.
GG, I take it that is James84, one and the same? If not, please correct me.
So really all I seek to do with this is get the permission of all the authors and pack it up pretty much the way it is. It is freaking incredible already. I guess we could add the callsigns for it, that part I had not looked into.
I will need to partner up with a FS9 user, however, because I have converted all this over to FSX.
Direction and guidance is appreciated.
Again, this is all in the spirit of wanting to package up the great work that is already done, it just needs, well.... packaging.

Re: Exotic Viper packages?
Just setting up the RDAF package to get even more Falcon's in the sim. The above mentioned package has some of the following changes:
Remove S-61's, replaced by AW101.
Remove 707 and CT49, no longer in service.
Remove NATO E-3's, part of the MAIW Nato Sentrys pack.
Remove CL-604, all 3 are in the Ultimate GA Challenger AI package using the JBAI model.

Re: Exotic Viper packages?
Just looked at the traffic bgl and noticed it includes LN F-15's and GAF Tornados as visitors. The primary T-17 trainers also listed, but I have never seen an AI model.

I'm just looking for the F16 traffic myself. I used the traffic that James84 did but just for the vipers.

On a Viper kick right now and looking for Belgium AF repaints, I see the retro package out, how much different are the current/modern paints compared to these? I noticed the tail bands on the 90's version.

Re: Exotic Viper packages?
Here you go. It's from the pre-MAIW era so most special paints in this package are now obsolete, but other than that it's still fairly current.
The adjective of Belgium is Belgian, so it's "Belgian Air Force". I guess that's why you found the retro package on Avsim and not mine.
