I figured I'd address this question to you, but anyone can answer. Do you not have any hangars or buildings present at KHLR? I have all the apaches and parking, seems to look good, but no buildings. Wondering if maybe I don't have the latest and greatest.

I assume you got this AFD from the 21st Cav package? Of all the AFD's I should be working on, I have neglected HLR despite being stationed there, and my home airport I fly GA out of, KTPL! I need to quit playing around with FSDS and the Hovercontrol H-60's.
I did find KGRK for FSX from Allen L., I went in and modified his to get rid of the static a/c and add parking spots for the Apaches now that 21st Cav is at GRK.
HLR is coded for 4th CAB, but they are at Ft. Bliss real world. The HLR in the package is missing the East ramp (where my birds are parked). I am still learning ADEX and have most of the scenery objects from various packs in the library manager. Our hangars are very similar to many of the ones found on Naval Air Stations, just much older!
Thanks for the motivation. I will also put together the landing strips/LZ's we use around the ranges. Longhorn and Shorthorn are already in the sim.

I was going to offer to do the runways, aprons, taxi ways, parking, etc., just by going off Google Maps background imagery, and then leave the building/object placement to you. But hey, if you were planning to tackle this project sooner or later anyway, then hell, let's have it sooner!! Get on it, soldier!! : )
Seriously, I'd love to get a good version of both airfields.

Played around with the stock version last night, just removed the AFCAD version included with the 21st Cav package as it was slightly off due to the FS9 vs. FSX. I'm going to have to learn SBuilder too as the landclass is off in the sim, but would love to figure out how to add the photoreal background to the scenery.
Need to go in and check my ADE thumbs, missing some for the hangars. As you noticed from the Google image, pretty good mix of asphalt and concrete on the ramps.
Here is Allen's Gray AAF I use, for the most part it's a good start and for civilian CRJ's if you have them since it's joint use.

This is how I learned to add the background photo into ADEX. Sbuilder is kinda hard to get used to at first, but now I'm getting around it in pretty well. However I dont' really use it to try to make photoreal scenery -- just to create the landclass files where needed, and to flatten and exclude. I try to create a separate file (1) to flatten and remove all autogen, and (2) another that excludes all terrain features. Last thing I try to put in an airfield Landclass around the runways etc.

Thanks Ripcord, I'm comfortable with using the background image in ADE, makes things so much easier for sure. Just want to release something close to MAIW airport standard. Right now trying to get the basic design down and then later I might go in and add various secondary buildings/hangars.

My Blackhawks weren't showing up for some reason either, so I'll have to start checking into that. Question, Chris, I see CH-47s parked on the ramp, on the north side -- do we have those in on of our AI packages (for this airfield)?

None from packages, I was going to add some in but I need a repaint due to the puke tan the "F" models use verse the standard OD green. The Apaches are easy as the Cav patch on the EFAB(cheek) is about the same as the 21st Cav birds. For the UH-60's, well...still waiting. We do have a maintenance facility that may have a "D" model in from various NG units. Longhorn (23XS) and Shorthorn(22XS) are where all the mobilized NG units stay for deployment workups.
I actually use alot of AL's stuff as he knows about MAIW and normally configures the AFD for AI packs. I just go in and change things around to my liking and remove the static GA planes. Check out his KHOP too.
