I'm thinking about just doing it, while the wife isn't looking.

Of course I'm not bright enough to get them into FSX with all the textures and LOD and all that.... so I would need some help on this.

Re: Irrational thought regarding a decent H-60 model
Can any of those formats be made to work with FS9 or FSX ?
With all the members around here that seem to want an UH-60, MH-60, HH-60 etc. Seems a few of us could contribute some dollars, pounds, euros, yen, rubles, francs, rupees, krone, shekels, pesos, dinar, quetzel, zlotky, dongs or ouguiya and have the "sharpest" one FDE it for us and provide a paint kit. It would be like a group offering to the MAIW community.
I'd be willing to donate to the cause (cause I want a H-60).

These things take time which is the one thing no one here can provide.
I can tell you from working on it, the fuse shape is not easy to model.

Looks like the model Virtavia bought to sell to the FS community. Much cheaper and buy FSDS and figure out how model.

Certainly cheaper, but not easy to do. Nobody has done it yet.
Re: Irrational thought regarding a decent H-60 model
I once did a similar search for some former U.S. conventional aircraft carriers. There are a lot of fine 3D models of nearly everything imaginable, but I soon became more interested in trying to learn modeling myself rather than paying $200-300 on something that I might not be able to get to work in FS9 or FSX.

There is a very nice source file for an FSDS Nimitz class carrier out there somewhere.
