Removing modern style hangars from MAIW scenery

Post by delta_lima »

Hello chaps/gals:

First, let me again say a huge THANKS for all the amazing items now available since I last visited. Mind blowing. Cool that there is even a "Retro" section - never had that back then. Next, I could argue this thread is either about "retro" or about "scenery" - so if admins wish to move, please do so.

As most of my flying "occurs" in the 60s, I'd really like to remove the modern-style hangars (externally braced type, sorry forgot the type) and keep the round-topped, Denver-style hangars. Has anyone done this easily? Is that a scenery object I can somehow disable, to make it a universal deletion on any other scenery pack that has it?

My first priority is the MAIW NAS Key West scenery - part of a litle personal "Cuba'62" scenery I'm working on. I've deleted all the VTTP and related files as per FSX port-over. I'm also trying to remove the GSE - again, through trial and error, I'm down to just a half dozen critical .bgls - the core library and the excludes.

Any help ridding myself of these newer hangars and the GSE would be most appreciated.

Again, many thanks to John S and company - no disrespect intened - I fully appreciate the packs have a much more modern period in mind, and the motivation for removing these jobjects is simply to adapt it to an older era.

Kind thanks,

DL

PS - Am flying FSX+Accell, Win XP, in case that makes a difference ....

Load the AFD into ADEX, then add the scenery library to the scenery library manager in ADEX, then import the library placement BGL into the open AFD. You can then delete the objects you don't want straight off the AFD in ADEX. Finally recompile the AFD, delete the old AFD and delete the old placement BGL to avoid duplicate scenery...bobs your uncle your done. :D

That was shockingly easy - at least for a man of my limited mental capacity when it comes to anything to do with modelling ... :)

New buildings gone, POL tanks that were erstwhile in the water are gone, and all offending trees were removed one by one. Somehow, all the GSE is gone - not sure what happened there, but as they were likely a contributor to my FPS problems, I'm ok with that.

Fun times ahead of me .... MAIW 1960, here I come ... :)
