Aviano AB LIPA on Avsim
FS9 scenery for Aviano Airbase of Aviano Italy. Nestled under the picturesque Dolomite mountains in the province of Pordenone is the delightfully quaint and friendly community of Aviano. A peaceful but vibrant town with all the expected amenities of scenery, dining, art, and even the de rigueur old castle. This scenery doesn't even attempt to show this too-beautiful flower of Italy. Instead it tries to provide at least an adequate representation of the Italian Airbase and the American fighters posted there. This package features season photo-ground cover with custom FSDS object modeling of Aviano airbase. Package also features all-new repaints of Henry Tomkiewitczs' F-16 model for the 505th and 555th fighter squadrons by Mark Heimer.

Do I understand you correctly here, John shares his freeware version of Aviano AB on Avsim, but you want castles and museams included???

Re: Aviano AB LIPA on Avsim
Should I keep the Cloud9 Aviano scenery installed? Or un-install that scenery and use this new scenery instead?
Re: Aviano AB LIPA on Avsim
To answer that you would have to view both. So install the new one, disable the Cloud9 and have a look. If you find it works for you and is easier on the frame rate then keep John's active. If you wish to use the Cloud9 one then re-enable it and then disable John's.
At the end of the day it is down to personal choice and what you use the scenery for.

True, I just thought maybe there was some changes at the base since the Cloud9 scenery came out and maybe John's new scenery is more up to date than the Cloud9 version.Firebird wrote:To answer that you would have to view both. Yes, I'm getting the same. All I can think of is that the proximity of the mountains is confusing the AI engine.bismarck wrote:Have someone experienced some strange approach to the rwy5?

Who has experience of messing with ADE to create a custom approach? Not only would it be great for us but I am sure that John would appreciate it as well.

Re: Aviano AB LIPA on Avsim
Is this really creating trouble with approaches? I'll take a look!

Re: Aviano AB LIPA on Avsim
I didn't try yet, may be it's enogh to load the default Navaids with ADE.
I have cloud9 Aviano and never had problems, nor with a previous and very very old scenery.
I've also problems with the height of the airport and some objects are sunk in the terrain, plus the landclass cause the use all of my RAM....

And I thought it was only me !!
Scenery itself looks fantastic (as always from John). But the wandering a/c does detract a little.

Hi
FS9 does not have approaches for Aviano.
I have used a program called "ils approach creator" to make the approaches for LIPA.
They are basic and start from the Course fix on final approach.
This should let the aircraft land without delay.
Making arrival routes is possible using xml but I would need approach charts with co-ordinates for the waypoints.
I have the .xml file for this bgl.
To install: Place the bgl in Scenery\Generic\Scenery.
I will gladly assist with other queries.
Regards
John

Re: Aviano AB LIPA on Avsim
Tested in FSX following the same basic steps for MAIW packages, remove a few non-FSX files and should be good. Looking over the AI landing, might be a good reason to try the AI SID/STAR program here, I should be able to make an overhead style approach.
New Viper repaints look great too.
EDIT: Rwy 5 seems fine in FSX, watched a Bone and 1x local F-16 land no issues with RW weather on.
