Sorry New Guy 1st Post

Post by lhayes »

I have been flying flight sims for years but have just decided to start using MAIW and WOAI. Can these two be used together? I am aware of the problem of mixing fs9 and fsx traffic files and what the outcome is. I installed WOAI and it was working, I use fsx by the way, when I installed MAIW aircraft they didn't show up. I searched for all fs9 files and converted them and to my delight MAIW aircraft were working but all the WOAI aircraft were inop. What am I doing wrong? Sorry in advance I know this is a FNG post. Thanks!

Sounds to me like you still have a FS9 flight plan in your sim. Are you using a program to scan your system for FS9 formatted files like AIFP?

Yes I used AIFP before I converted the FS9 files WOAI worked and MAIW didn't. After I converted the fs9 files to fsx MAIW worked but WOAI stopped working.

Please remember that traffic files can be in ANY of the folders in the scenery config file, not just the standard one. We have had quite a few FSX problems because people haven't checked all their scenery folders.
We have some traffic folders in our scenery folders. I would search for 'traffic' and see if you have anywhere you don't expect them.

The problem seems to be that when I load a WOAI airline file it is in FS9 format and the MAIW aircraft go away. I have used the AIFP to convert the WOAI FS9 files to FSX but still no MAIA aircraft. When I use the AIFP to delete the WOAI FS9 files I tried to convert the MAIW aircraft reappear. Im I wrong to think that converting the FS9 files should make them work?

No you are not wrong you just haven't got all of the files converted.
What I would do is remove all the traffic files to another HD or folder completely unrelated to FS and then use the system search facility to search all of your FSX installation for any 'traffic' files. This will highlight the ones you haven't found or converted yet.

The phenomenon that you describe is well known and it is when there is an FS9 traffic file in your scenery structure. It will contaminate and knock out any FSX traffic files in that area. It is a safety feature as they a different start day for the week.
