Been nice getting to you know, Reggie, just wish we could have figured this out. I'm fresh out of ideas.
I would just install it as is, all of the jets, as intended, and see what you get with that.
EDIT: your problem, by the way, are with the A and B model F-15s. I ran thru all my simobject installations and found no other F-15 packages with the A & B models in them.
Have you tried messing around with the anti-aliasing and filtering and all that crap in the graphics settings? Just reaching for anything at this point.

Thanks Ripcord, I'll continue to play with it and see if i figure it out. If I do, I'll let you know.

Re: Odd Problem -Textures Turning Black In FSX
Hello Guys,
I'm new here and just got a somethings installed on my FSX. I started slowly with just using Seymour Johnson AFB for FSX to get the parking spots. I did not use a MIAW scenery of SJ but I imported the F-15E from the MIAW Seymour Johnson package. It worked, however I get the same black canopy and when weapons are on the aircraft, they also turn black.

You missed to copy the global textures into ..\fsx\textures. In this case this is:rthorflech wrote:Hello Guys,

"..\MAIW Seymour Johnson AFB V2\Texture\NBAI_Weapons.bmp"
"..\MAIW Seymour Johnson AFB V2\Texture\refl_texture.bmp"
Cheers,

Reggie wrote:I just manually opened the packages and pull out the aircraft. The airbase scenery files draw down my FPS, so I don't use them. I also make my own afcads using AFX. I use the voicepack mods, changing them to "EVP" mods.
I manually install the aircraft that I need. To keep from getting too AI heavy, each squadron only has 6 - 8 aircraft. That keeps it pretty busy in the SE quadrant of the U.S. where I mostly fly. I live near NAS Pensacola, so my FSX starts me there and all of my squadrons are located in the area between Texas / Oklahoma east to Florida.
I found out through trial and error that some aircraft require all of the same texture or they turn black (entire aircraft). Some other forum members are having the same problem and used the same fix. They are trying to figure that problem out.
It's just the problem with the F-15's canopy that is bamboozling me.
I hope you find a fix. I think I'll delete and re-install the aircraft (manually) and see if that does something.
Cheers,
Reggie
I do the same thing as Reggie does. I manually open the packages and pull out the aircraft and install them. I also create AFCADS for parking spots. I just created a AFCAD for the F-16 unit at Montgomery Alabama. After testing it last night, once it was finished and installed, it worked fine however there were three F-15's from Tyndall sitting in the hangar and one on the ramp. They all had black canopies. When I fly from Tyndall I don't get this issue. Reggie says his computer is new. Mine is 2.5 yrs old with a 1 TB HDD. It is almost full. I have 140GB left on it. So this tells me it is not a memory issue. I am running 8GB of RAM.

Could it be that you missed a shared texture that resides in the %FS%\texture folder?
Cheers,

I will have to check and see. Maybe so after reading through this post.

Re: Odd Problem -Textures Turning Black In FSX
I remember having these issues years ago when I first moved to FSX. I was fairly sure part of it was the refl_texture.bmp that gsnde mentioned. I also now run Addon Convertor X which has fixed most FS9 model/texture issues. Most of the time when I have a textureless aircraft now is because I've done something wrong or not noticed an error in the cfg when adding it. I've checked those bases mentioned as well and all the textures look great in DX10 too!

Yes, you have to make sure those two textures are in the Global/Textures file. After I did that, I was good to go.
