FS2002/2004 WC-130H Hurricane Hunter w/Underwing Fuel Tanks

Post by knarfy »

Living in Fla. especially this time of the year having a plane like this to fly around is nice to have. But I am having a heck of a time trying to get the textures to work. I have a C-130 from Mike Stone with the hurricane hunters textures, I thought I was getting the hang of installing planes to FS9 and so on. But this one got me over a barrel so to speak. I've tried to extract it with win.rar and winzip and it loads to the game, but when I pull the plane up in the game all I get is a blank grey texture. I cant tell you how many hours on Saturday I worked on this, but nothing.

I did add a panel and sound, panel looks good, I downloaded C-130 sounds, this is a nice plane, if I can just get the textures to work. I will include the readme file, a .jpg of the plane, and the .cfg file to look at.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Frank

Here is what I think might be wrong. Make sure the folder that you have is labelled texture.XXXX (XXXX means whatever the name of your texture folder is) and only bmp files are in that folder, and that your main file has that texture folder in it. Add the entry that came with the textures to the aircraft.cfg. Cross check your aircraft config to make sure that the last entry is your Hurricane hunter textures, in other words that you don't have an X for the number and that the texture line matches the texture.XXX folder you have in the main aircraft folder. It should show up no problem if you did it right.

Check your texture folder for an aircraft.cfg entry. That readme is generic.

Hi, in the aircraft folder there is a texture file, but it just says texture, nothing like texture.**** and in the aircraft.cfg there is a entry for the hurr hunt texture files, inside the texture file are the bmp's. Not sure what's missing

In the readme file are e-mail addresses for the people who made this plane, but they are inactive : (

I did just look in the texture folder, no readme file to add the entry to the .cfg

Ok then just copy the entry above it. Change the title so it represents your hurricane hunters textures. In the texture line, add the name of the texture folder in. add the next number in line. If your textures did not have a name, name the folder texture.hunter. Then add hhunter to the texture line in the aircraft.cfg. Save everything then it will show up.

Cool glad to help man. It gets tricky until you learn how FSX works. I only know the basics, but some of these guys on here know it inside and out, I mean there really isn't a question you cant find the answer for on here.

Anyway cool. Glad it helped. :smt004

You know that bird you are flying is based at Keesler AFB and makes weather recon trips to its own special base on US St Croix called Henry E. Rohlsen Airport, ICAO is TISX. They actually have a cool setup on St. Croix, and I bet its one of the bests posts in the USAF for C-130 pilots.

What got me started on this whole thing was, well living in Fla., loving military things in general, and then seeing the hurricane hunters show on the weather channel on Monday nights, I downloaded an MAIW package to include Keesler AFB and now will load up St. Croix and do a trip.

How ironic that show is where I got the info I just gave you. Great show. Good luck to your sim, I have the afcads for TISX if you want them. Or search on AVSIM i think thats where I downloaded them.

I wanted to add some pics of the C-130 parked at TISX (St. Croix), I did a trip from KBIB-Keesler AFB down to St. Croix. Thanks again for the help
