ADE9 Probs

Post by petebramley »

Hi All

I have just built a new airport from scratch using ADE9 that is not preent in the default FS9. All looks good
as far as the layout is concerned but I have a problem with AI traffic as follows:

When I go to the airport and look for the AI about 2 mins before its departure all seems to be fine I can hear
the clearance and that all sounds ok but as soon as the controller says contact ground then the AI Aircraft
promptly disappears. Simple question why ??

Airport YNRV (Ravensthorpe)

Comms:
TOWER 126.7
MULTICOM 126.7
CENTER 125.9 (MELBOURNE)
ATIS 126.7
GROUND 128.7

I know somethings wrong but I just can't see it. can anybody help (Files available on request)

Cheers

Sounds to me like one of 2 things (if not both)

1. there's not enough spots too park in or the spots aren't big enough

2. There isn't a link off the runway in terms of a taxiway

Hi Dan

both points checked again and confirm the parking spot is big enough (The Aircraft
does show up). The parking connectors are connected to the taxiway and on to the
Runway. I think that I can rule out the comms as I created another airport earlier with
parking for the same size of aircraft and there the AI behaves correctly.

This is getting baffling

Pete,

Just to be sure - have you run the fault finder in ADE?
Cheers,

Hi Martin

Yes, Have checked in ADE and no probs found. I created a small test traffic file using a default
Cessna and that does the same thing. It seems that the A/C complete clearance then as soon
as they try to pushback pop and they disappear. I have created 2 more Airports since I got this
problem and they work fine and AI traffic does wot its supposed to do. I may just junk this one
and start again from scratch.

Pete, usually that problem is due to the parking spot not connected to the runway, btw, I had a similar proble with my LLOV. I had comms freq. equal to frequencies in the nearby. Try to "Load Stock Data" from the Tools menu un ADE.

As last chance, post here your AFD.

I think I have sorted it !!

On this airport there was a second runway, as soon as I deleted it the AI worked perfectly.
I have now replaced the second runway with a dummy runway by creating an apron. Think I will
have to investigate this further. :D

Wouldn't it be easier to simply close that second runway for traffic if you don't want it to be selected by FS9?

Hi Greg

Quite possibly, but at the time I was not sure if that was the problem. Firstly I
thought it might be a comms problem. when I managed to eliminate that as the cause
I then tried to build the Airport with AFCAD 2.21 and it worked. I may come back to
this one at some stage and see if a disabled runway will work. At the moment I
can't understand why a runway that does not even have a runway taxi-link nor connected
to any other runway/taxi/parking links causes the problems I faced. Don't really matter now
as I have solved it another way, but interesting all the same.

Well it's actually quite simple: if a runway is "open", it can be selected by the FS9 engine for take-offs and/or landings. The engine checks many variables for runway designation but whether it is connected or not is not one of them.

Only when the AI aircraft wants to taxi to the designated runway, FS9 looks how to get to there. If it can't find a correct route, the engine will delete the flight.

You can have a similar problem with landing aircraft. The aircraft lands, receives a designated parking spot when slowed down on the runway, takes the first exit, stops when it passes the hold short node and only then realizes it can't get to the spot and is deleted.

Gotcha

I will have a play and re-insert the 2nd runway & plug it in this time !!
