Kazahkstan

Post by delbydoo »

I don't know why I keep coming back here, but Kazakhstan is just one of those countries that fascinates me - so I spent most of yesterday getting all the military traffic up and running again......it's probably the colour schemes, I mean they are some of the gaudiest camo schemes I have seen! I can highly recommend the All-Kazakhstan scenery from avsimrus.com.

Thanks, yeah it's pretty busy over the eastern side of the country, but I think in reality there wouldn't be half the aircraft flying as there is in my sim.....

What is that bunker structure? Is that a standard object in FS9? I installed FS9 this last weekend, and it actually works better on my rig than FSX. I will obviously put up some screenshots soon. Russia is by far one of the most difficult areas to represent in a sim, I mean even finding out where their units are based is difficult because in Reality from what I understand they don't have permanent stations like here or in the UK, they move their units around constantly to suit whatever training they are doing. It is really hard to figure out what is going on over there, obviously the CIA and MI6 have been trying for 40 years to find out what they are up to so I don't feel so bad not being able to position my jets correctly in FS9 LOL

That is one of the launchers at the Baikonur Cosmodrome - Space City, which is a part of the All_Kazakhstan scenery from avsimrus.com......it is in Kazakhstan but the whole area is rented by the Russians.....since the break-up of the USSR in 91, all of the former states have gone their own way, and trying to find out any info is, as you say, fairly difficult but you can nail some of it down, just takes a little (LOADS!!) of research. Visit avsimrus.com because they have literally shed-loads of stuff for Russia and the former states.....it's where I got most of my stuff for Kaz from.
And thanks to the likes of Micheal Pearson who has painstakingly painted Su-27's and MiG-29's and other stuff from all sorts of exotic countries. Really makes a nice change from roundels and stars & bars

I have had the Almaty scenery installed for a while now and my AI are sunk into the ground a little bit (the wheels are half into the ground). Is there a fix for that?

If its the same one that I have, by Nikita Fomin, there is a fix - although the chap has tried to add the new second runway and extended ramps using AFCAD, but failed miserably. Not to knock him, but the way the older scenery has been made will not allow the modifications to show, so everything is a bit squew-wiff or not showing at all. Never had a problem with sinking AI so give that a try.
I have amended the AFCAD to take out the runway and re-align the parking. If you would like it send me a PM :D

I am still using the original v2 version. I guess I should try v2 update.
