New BBC docu: Cold War Hot Jets

Post by RKE »

Apparently this premiered on friday night and has subsequently begun leaking to YouTube. First episode covers the immediate post-WW2 era, the British jet engine, and the beginning of overflights of the Soviet Union. Plenty of glorious footage and interviews - although not with the RAF crew who handled the U-2 on behalf of the Agency, as the UK Government still haven't acknowledged that this took place!

Episode 2 is covering the time when the V-Bombers came on line. Looking forward to watching that one and seeing the Victors in their pre-tanker days.
A sense of humour must be maintained at all times.

Really interesting programme. The piece about RAF crews flying U2s for the Americans was something I hadn't come across before.
