Windows XP and Internet Explorer

Post by phantomfreak »

Has anyone encountered any problems with Internet Explorer using Window's XP. Mine was working fine up until about a week ago, now when I go to a website with multiple pages; i.e. avsim or here; internet explorer basically quits and I get the this page cannot be displayed message. I have a laptop with Win 7 and it seems to be working fine.

It seems the old versions are having problems.

I also had an issue. Could not log in with XP. No problems with Windows Seven.

If you are getting the same message with Firefox that you are getting with IE then I am afraid that it means that it is very likely not a browser issue. It would seem that you have an unwelcome addition on your system that is causing this. It might be worth taking some time and scanning your system for signs of virus or trojan activity.

There could be a legitimate third party software that you have recently installed that could be doing this but I would doubt it, as there would have been a lot of complaints and a fix released.

I use Google Chrome with XP Pro on my FS9 development desktop with no issues. I also use Internet Explorer 8 when required by MIcrosoft with no problems. Hopefully that will continue after Microsoft pulls their support for XP next spring.
