Where can I find 180th Fighter Wing AI?
Where can I find 180th Fighter Wing AI?
Where can I find 180th Fighter Wing AI? I had the F-16's in my sim at one point but now I don't have them anymore (I don't remember why I deleted them). I thought they were in the MAIW Great Lakes ANG v2 package but they are not in there. Does anyone know where I can find them?

It is in the Great Lake ANG v1 package right? If so that package is not available to download anymore.
Re: Where can I find 180th Fighter Wing AI?
We'll fix that ASAP. Thanks for the heads up.

Yea that would be cool I am missing stuff from that package I want to run too, even if it is disbanded in real life. The Ohio, Illinois, and Indiana ANG are in V1, and missing from V2. I been meaning to ask that - good looking out Joe!

Re: Where can I find 180th Fighter Wing AI?
I have a feeling that the author of the GLANG packages was re-organizing them when he was updating them. So far GLANG1 v2 has been released but GLANG2 v2 hasn't. So I think that they currently fall into a hole. If you read the notes at the top of the GLANG1 v2 readme there is no mention of Ohio there.
Taking into account that persons fondness for Ohio I don't think that he would leave that state undefended.

Re: Where can I find 180th Fighter Wing AI?
Its strange at the release of V2 they stated in the info that the Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois F-16 units were deactivated, which was not true, according to the latest info I found on the web the Base Realignment and Closure commission just closed the bases and moved all the units to different bases. I am not sure what that means, but the units depicted in GLANG v1 are very much active, to what capacity I am not sure, but I would like to have the original package paints and stuff available. What do you think, Steve?

Re: Where can I find 180th Fighter Wing AI?
The 180th FW is alive and well and quite active. Their primary mission these days is North American Air Defense including daily QRA duty, so they concentrate on air to air work. Gotta watch those pesky Canadians in case they attack!
The 180th FW "Stingers" took over this role from the F-16s at Ft. Wayne and Selfridge ANGB when those units transitioned to the A-10.
Sadly those A-10 units are now going away as well.
The 178th FW at Springfield-Beckley lost their F-16s several years back, they soldiered on training Dutch pilots in their F-16s for another year before losing even that mission. They are currently a desginated remote operator for the MQ-1C Predator. <------LAME!
The 179th Airlift Wing at Mansfield has gotten two C-130s recently and will get another 6 over the next year to replace their C-27Js. We didn't even have a chance to put together a C-27J package for Mansfield!
The 121st Air Refueling Wing at Rickenbacker has recently been reduced down to 9 aircraft from a high of 16 (I believe). Some were sent to Tuscon to retire and two have recently been sent to Merridian to replace that unit's lost C-27Js.
Are you guys following all this so far???
To round out Ohio, the reserve C-130 wing at Youngstown has been unaffected by BRAC changes although they may have lost an aircraft since that package first came out. They are the only unit in the USAF that is equipped for aerial spray application so they're unique which means they won't be going away anytime soon. They sprayed for mosquitoes over New Orleans after hurricane Katrina wiped that area out in 2005.

To further this discussion, Des decided to skip an update for the units based in Ohio, my home state, because at one point I was going to try to update them myself being the local guy. That's why they haven't been updated yet.
I don't know if I can get to them or not at this point.

Re: Where can I find 180th Fighter Wing AI?
Thanks for the info .... do you know if the dutch sent their deployment of F-16's home from Springfield Beckley? I still have them running in my sim, but I think they went home a long time ago, on the other hand I think I read somewhere that it is a permanent detachment, like Singapore has for their F-15SG Bucs @ Mountain Home AFB. I recently got Malmstrom AFB up and running, do you know what units are their and what the primary function is for that base? I just want to set up some simple AI for it, I know the 186th FS used to operate out of Malmstrom, do you know if that unit is still active and where they moved to? I would assume Great Falls International Airport, but I haven't confirmed that. I used to get mags for all this stuff sent to my house but when I moved I never resubscribed to them so I am having some trouble keeping up.

The Dutch moved back to the 162nd FW at Tuscon to train with the Arizona ANG. They had been there prior to moving up to Springfield to train with the 178th FW.

A friend of mine that I went to flight school with is an IP for the 162nd out there. He's gotta pretty sweet gig since they never have to deploy and he gets to fly F-16s all the time as a "day job".

That must be rough, spend your days over the clouds in an F-16, and your nights under the multitude of beautiful women that love guys that fly F-16's ... I wonder what would represent a "problem" in that guys life .... getting girls mixed up ... having to work too many hours ....

Ohio's gotta be better than the women here in Wisconsin, where I am unfortunately stuck at the moment. I have actually been in situations where I couldn't tell if what i was looking at was a man or a really ugly woman, and that happens more often than you think. Especially in the winter..... lol

Re: Where can I find 180th Fighter Wing AI?
Hey did you guys ever square away GLANG V1 with the 180th FS Stingers from the Ohio ANG? I have the old traffic file, and paints for the 180th F-16C, but I still need the rest of the package for the traffic file to work correctly in FS9. I am missing the F-16D aircraft.cfg file, but I have the paints. I also think there are some C-130's and KC-135's and maybe C-21's and helos that were part of that package and excluded in the recent one, making KTOL an empty airport when in real life they just got back from deployment, and are flying daily.
I just downloaded some awesome scenery for KTOL so I would like to add the 180th FS if someone can send it to me. Thanks!

So there seems to be a lot of people still wanting some traffic from the Great Lakes ANG Part 1 V1 package. We have provided a link below to this superseded package.
There will be no Official MAIW support for this package as it has been superseded to the supported Version 2 in the main package download area.

To help people understand which packages are current I mark the superseded packages as such and don't provide a download link on my MAIW Reference. But on the Military AI Reference all old MAIW packages with download links are listed, separated per aircraft.

Re: Where can I find 180th Fighter Wing AI?
Dan, tracking them as well and I think from the V1 package the 180th FW was the only thing missing from V2. I try to keep the "Real World changes to packages" thread updated.
Thanks for the link, got my missing F-16 textures back in the sim.
