Colorado Firefighting Air Corps

Post by f4nutter »

Recently I was contacted by John Simmons, Special Aide to Senator Steve King over in Colorado, asking me if I would be interested in designing a paint scheme on some C-130's they hope to get for forest fire fighting, well I said yes and hopefully when the bill is put to congress they will get these bird's and paint them in my design. below is the 2 artwork pics i sent in along with letter heading design's too :D these have been accepted, watch this space this could be real one day soon. just thought i would share my new's.

Coulson is going to love this. Never thought I'd see a state attempt to operate a type I tanker. If it does go forward, you should probably change the number of the aircraft though. Tanker seven belongs to Neptune Aviation. Good luck to them, they'll need it.

Very nice. Colorado is lucky that the MAFFS school house is at Peterson AFB, so finding qualified pilots for the mission should be easy...the money for the project; who knows.

Congratulations, Ray!

Just being asked and considered is quite an honor. I hope the bill passes and your efforts take to the real skies! Thank you for all your and the other contributor's hard work to make the simulation skies and experience so real!

thank's for all your comments. now about the number 07 and funding. the number "07" was asked to be put on because whoever (cant remember his name) the bill is given to, it's his favourite number, and they will be asking the military to donate or lease the herc's from the "boneyard".

Jon, does that include the flight rate? The Air Force charged the Forest Service about $10,000 per flying hour last year. There's also an availability charge that only the contractor aircraft charge. Coloradans will certainly see their taxes go up if this happens. Ray, do you have any plans to do Erickson Aero, the Neptune BAE's or Coulson's C-130?

Coulson didn't like painting it either. They painted it white and put a wrap over it.

I don't know, probably since that works out to 700 hours. The plan is to "rent" them out to other states as needed.
