FSX Installation guide

Post by pcremin »

I am working through the MAIW FSX installation guide, I have not got very far. I have got to the following para "Download the ADE9X Environment Checker from The Owl’s Nest. Run it and set the FS9 path to the folder you have just created. Attention: If there is a real FS9 installation on the machine you are doing this, you have to restore the previous setting afterwards."

The ADEX checker will let me set my path to the virtual folder, would this be because I am running my real FS9 from the C Drive? I would be grateful for your help. I am running Windows 7

Hi,

The idea to setup a virtual FS9 folder is because if you would install the MAIW packages into your existing real FS9 installation you would have a very hard time to identify the files that come with the package.

Therefore you want to setup an empty, virtual FS9 structure, in which you can install the MAIW packages and pick up the files easily.
Where you setup this folder is completely up to you. It can be on any drive or below any folder. It should be easy to access.
Cheers,
Martin
