MAIW aircraft for multiplayer

Post by N35W »

I'm sure this question has been asked a lot but I have not been around for many years.
Hopefully things have changed.

MAIW aircraft are perfect for multiplayer since they are very light on the polys with LODs.
All you have to do is replace the FDE for the aircraft your simulating.
The only problem thought is the XML animations for covers and canopys.
Are there version of all these fine aircraft that don't have these attached?
They perform nicely but flying with the doors open doesn't look right :)
Those of you out there that don't have strong computers like me, it makes a huge differance.
If you use FSINN they make a big differance in multiplayer.
Everybody isn't trying to render 100,000 polgon models for each player.

Would there be a list of basic models?

Mike P has done a couple of multiplayer models, notably the B-52 package. Look for it at Avsim. I know there are at least a couple more, I use the B-52 in multiplayer, with a modified config file to let it masquerade as another players aircraft ;-)
