Overlay Problems

Post by Garysb »

Still having problems with an overlay AFCAD
I have 3 overlays altogether the other two work fine
The only thing I can see that is different is that this runway is laid on top of another of the main airport
If you remove the main AFCAD it works normally and the aircraft will park, so it is the interaction between the two that is causing the aircraft to land as prescribed on the overlay AFCAD, taxi off towards the correct parking, then turn round and park on the other AFCAD.
I have moved the location, changed frequencies but still can’t get them to park correctly
The initial parking is all correct as they all show up on the correct spots, taxi and take off with no problems
I have re-plumbed the routes twice, moved hold short nodes and all sorts of other tweaks
Anyone got any clues?

Gary, when you say "plumbed" do you mean that specifically, ie the overlays are made with the "plumbing" method with separate outbound(green) and inbound (blue) paths? If so, the positioning of the nodes either side of the exit hold short nodes can cause traffic to switch paths. The next blue on the overlay should be closer than the next blue on the AFCAD below it I think. It's also worth playing with the nodes in that area in a conventional file.

Steve (Firebird) is great at diagnosing these kind of problems. He solved a problem of inbound traffic freezing at the hold for me with Wattisham.
