Dino F35 as AI?Possible?
Dino F35 as AI?Possible?
Hi. I have Dino F35 models. I'm wondering if it's possible to take an incredibly detailed model, and turn it into an AI aircraft? I want to add F35s in my FSX world to go along with my MAIW packages. If this is possible, can someone explain to me how to do it? I have AIFP3.

Same answer as to your other post.Mar96 wrote:Hi. I have Dino F35 models. I'm wondering if it's possible to take an incredibly detailed model, and turn it into an AI aircraft? Mark Griggs created an AI model of the F-35A called the MGAI F-35A which is available at the following link in the mg_ai_f-35a_jsf_lightning_ii.zip file:
http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/fslib.php ... d=32489973
There are also texture sets for the F-35A's based at Eglin, Edwards and Nellis AFB's available at the following link:
http://marksfsrepaints.jimdo.com/
I think using the MGAI F-35A is a much better way to go than trying to use Dino's very detailed flyable model as an AI aircraft.

BTW...Those are two MGAI F-35A's in my signature.
PS: Yes, it is possible to convert a very detailed model into an AI, but if you used very many of them there would be a large FPS hit due to all that detail.
Re: Dino F35 as AI?Possible?
Interesting!I did not know about that. Will my FPS be effected even if I take out certain details like the cockpit? Also, I clicked on the link you provided and it sent me to a page where it said, no search results found. I tried searching for the ai model but can't find it anywhere. Could you provide another link please?mikewmac wrote:Same answer as to your other post.Mar96 wrote:Hi. I have Dino F35 models. Re: Dino F35 as AI?Possible?
It's the overall model that will hurt your performance.
Aircraft specifically made to use as AI have used as little polygons as possible plus level of detail models (as the aircraft is seen further away, the model is switched with others that have less and less detail. Good explanation here .. http://www.ai-aardvark.com/modeling/LOD ... a_LOD.html ) to reduce the impact on your frame rates.
Flyable models concentrate on adding detail, so the polygon count is a lot lot higher. Typically they also do not have level of detail models.
You should be able to get Marks F-35A at
http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/fslib.php ... d=32509372
Or you can search for the filename on flightsim.com

@Mike - I should really get back to the F-35B model, sometime!

If you are looking for Military AI, you should check out the AI reference of my web. All links there take you directly to the downloads.Mar96 wrote:...

I'm ready whenever you are.

Re: Dino F35 as AI?Possible?
Kevin is the expert and has explained the downside of making a highly detailed flyable model into an AI one. Besides those issues, many flight models for flyable models do not work very well when used for AI, therefore often times a unique new AI flight model has to be created. This can be a relatively easy or a daunting task dependent on your level of experience with AI flight models.Mar96 wrote:mikewmac wrote:Interesting!I did not know about that. I see that you are an FSX user, so this could possibly introduce another level of complexity as most AI models have been created for use in FS9 and at least some don't make the transition to FSX without some problems that need to be addressed.
I haven't tried the MGAI F-35A model in FSX, so I don't know if it has any issues other than the normal parking spot issue due to the different manner in which FSX calculates the aircraft radius.

Glad to hear that the F-35B is not totally dead. My fingers are still firmly crossed

Re: Dino F35 as AI?Possible?
Can anybody have got some Edwards F-15 FlightPlans ?
I've some for Eglin and Nellis, but none for Edwards paints.
Where can I find them ?
Thanks a lot

Well done, Jon.
I want to know how you managed to add an attachment as I haven't managed it yet. You are obviously special.
