EGUL Lakenheath
That scenery looks amazing... can't wait to see it on my pc. I like the isolated parking areas, A-10's would look nice sitting near the hangars even if it wasn't they're RL base. Now all we need is an F-111 AI package.
Anybody thought of doing a retro RAF Brentwaters for the A-10 fans?
Thanks for sharing the scenery.

A retro RAF Bentwaters would rock. I was stationed there from 91 to 93. I was the last weather observer on base and helped lock the door when the base was deactiviated.monkie wrote:That scenery looks amazing... can't wait to see it on my pc. I agree a retro would rock. Of course to with a retro RAF Bentwaters you would need a retro Sembach AB, Germany. I was station there from 81 to 84, That was forward operation base for the Bentwaters A-10's, they would rolate about every couple weeks. Sembach had OV-10's station there also.jetmax wrote:A retro RAF Bentwaters would rock. I was stationed there from 91 to 93. In the future I am doing a a Alconbury/Upper Heyford/Woodbridge/ Bentwaters package with scenery as detailed as Lakenehath. This will not be a MAIW release as its retro and I wont be working on this for a while as I have a fair amount of projects at the moment. I may just do bits here and there when having a break from my current projects.monkie wrote:That scenery looks amazing... can't wait to see it on my pc. Im going to Lakenheath next week to see them. There will be a ETAD package in the near future with scenery. I have just received a list of serials for Spang A-10s and I counted 24, so 14 is less than I expected. I thought maybe 18-20.Tweek wrote:Well 14 A-10s arrived at Lakenheath today (yesterday, now) on deployment from Spangdahlem, so if you stuck A-10s there until some time in mid-July, it would be pretty realistic.monkie wrote:A-10's would look nice sitting near the hangars even if it wasn't they're RL base.

How do you chaps overcome the problem with aircraft crashing into hills?
I've done low level waypoints and they work fine but the problem is if I set the aircraft cruise level to anything resembling a real low level flight they'll inevitably pile into a hill, so all I can do is make them cruise to WPs at medium altitude which, whilst still interestin, isn't the way I want it.

Low Level AI
Hi all,
From my own experience with making low level flightplans I have found that if you make the flight IFR and set the altitude at say 500ft the aircraft take off and climb up to arond 6000ft initaly until about 25 miles from the departure airport and then decend to 2000ft above the terrain and will follow the contours of the ground allways keeping 2000ft clearence.
I have had tornado's fly from Lossiemouth down to St Mawgan with no problems with flying into the mountains.
Not really low level at 2000ft but interesting following them with Traffic viewboard while they go up and then back down over mountains and valleys much like flying with terrain following radar.
With VFR they will decend to the altitude you select but do not allways clear mountains in there path depending on how quickly the ground rises, by following them with traffic view board you can play with the altitude to clear mountains on route or select a different route.
Seems to work for me.
Regards,
Steve.

Have you seen this?
Hi everyone, I,m new to this forum so I apologise If this has been listed elsewhere.
http://www.liveatc.net/feedmap/feedmap.html
The controls are really easy to use and you can zoom in to 100yrds
I found this and of note if you find Lakenheath and look on the south side of the airfield on the A1065 Brandon Rd it says EAGLES ROCK! on one of the stations roofs.
Hope this helps
Regards
Sven
