WEEK1 WEEK2 in TTools

Post by col1948 »

I wrote a couple of quick flight plans using TTools, the purpose was to try something to see if it worked.
You will see I put a number after the WEEK and compiled and TTools accepted it.
Now having done that I'm not sure what benefit if any it has because both flights will activate, the only thing I can think of is if viewing/following a flight you could select what week to follow.

Tried your proposal with two Monday flights. Both are leaving at the same time at the same Mondays. Thanks anyway for the idea.

Yes I said I couldn't really see say benefit but I thought it strange TTools accepted it.
, also I did say select what week to follow you will notice they are going to different destinations.

There was an article somewhere, some time ago where you could build 4 different weeks (*_week1.bgl etc) and there was a script that ran on FS start up that checked to see what week of the month it was and then copied that weeks bgl to the scenery lib.

That was the only automatic way that I have seen to vary the flightplans according to the week that I have seen.

Hi Steve, I had an idea of flying an ai tour for example round Europe, doing it in a week would limit the destinations and time etc, so having different weeks I could continue with the tour.
If I'm flying in Germany in week2 it wouldn't matter if the aircraft from week1 is flying in Spain or somewhere because I wouldn't see it, I could of course change the reg or flight number in the different weeks as well just in case I was close and heard ATC calling it.
Just an idea lol.

There was one that did it for the whole year :)

Once I created a vintage AI flight from Cairo to Capetown over two weeks. The first week flight was to an airfield somewhere at Lake Victoria and where it disappeared during the night. The second AI flew in from a fictious and hidden nearby airport as soon as the first one disappeared and continued in the morning the second week flight to Capetown.

@leuen
So going off your last post got me thinking more on this.
For example a flight plan for WEEK1 the ai aircraft could fly a route visiting say 7 airports but the last airport is an invisible one, then as you say the aircraft vanishes but can spawn again from the invisible airport in WEEK2 and fly to a further 7 airports and this could go on to WEEK3 and WEEK4.
I say 7 airports as an example but careful planning you could add more of course, this could be a way of having a monthly plan with a little thought.

The bottom line is that only WEEK is recognised. If it was possible to do multiple weeks there would have been a MONTH parm included.
If the people involved in creating AI masterpieces now were involved in designing the AI engine at the time it would be different and have a lot more options. The nature of AI has by far exceeded the expectations of the creation team.

Sometimes I wonder if somebody will actually create a cut down FS in which you can't actually fly but only have AI, such is the nature of how this offset of FS9 has grown in popularity.

@clickclickdoh,
Ha Ha yes I understand doing monthly plans, if this idea could be modified it would only be for doing tours and/or flying round the world that kind of thing, as you know most FP's are daily or weekly any way.
As my first post says I was thinking of touring round Europe then maybe after that Asia then the USA and so on, just zig-zag around or fly round the coast.
