C-130 smoke effect question

Post by Joseph29 »

After installing the new USCG Clearwater pack I was looking though the C-130 cfg files for my C-130's and noticed that some do not have any entries for the engine smoke, and the ones that do have the entries have a different effect files named.

fx_nicksmokeAI_sm_lear (I have this one for the E model)
fx_nicksmokeAI_lrglear-MD-7x (I have this one for the H model)
fx_nicksmokeC130.fx (I have the one for the E model)

(my other C-130's do not have smoke effect entries yet)

Is there a single smoke fx file that is best to use for the C-130?

There is really no best choice. It's what ever looks best for you. When I add the smoke effect to C-130s I'm working on, I use the same effect that is used for the JAI P-3s, fx_nicksmokeAI_lrglear-MD-7X. Chances are that if you have any MAIW package with a P-3 in it, you already have it on your system so you don't need to reinstall it... and P-3 and C-130 use different versions of the same engine IRL.

Thank you very much. I used the fx_nicksmokeAI_lrglear-MD-7x for all my C-130's.

One more question. Do you (or anyone) know the entries to add the engine smoke to the L-100-20 and the L-100-30 models? I found the entries to all the C-130's except for those two.
