Mig-29 Russia

Post by JohnTenn »

I have attempted these paints for the Mig-29's based at Kursk.

Can someone help me with the font used for the BBC POCCNN? I will have to flip the N's.

Although I am not a painter I don't have any specific cyrillic font that you could use.

If nobody can help you here it might be worth contacting Mike Pearson as he has done several Russian models.

Thanks Steve.

I will sample the fonts I have. Arial narrow is almost there.

The reverse N's is a cut, flip and paste.

This is what it looks like so far. The other aircraft looks like a reverse pattern. One or two more other variations.

This is what I ended up with. DXT conversion scrambles it anyway.

Resorted to Airal Narrow, as large as I could. Flipped the "N" 's.
Then painted the shading to make it look like it was part of the font.

The web link was unusable because I could not put a white border around it or get it into Paintshop Pro.

This is a UB. If there are no objections, suggestions I will put fin numbers and Mig logo on.
The serial numbers seen to have been removed in recent times. "RF-1234".

Spot the difference.

I did in fact find a Cyrillic font at Simmerspaintshop. The link from Steve helped to decode it.

I use the font for the reg serials. I was unable to get a better result with the other lettering.

Almost done.

Just figuring it out. Got it to work. Now to get the change at the correct day. And better textures.

VEry nice. Good Job. And these textures goes perfectly on the SMT models (with a big top) by SBAI. So I'll use it in place of standart MiG-29.

After failing to add details to the berms, I have decided to upload the model with seasonal textures to the library.

Not yet.

Miljan may have the source files. When he gets time it might become available.

Guys if I ever start work on mig-29 it will be from scratch. There are new techniques that I would like to incorporate into the model and are already used in some MAIW projects. Many things I want to change to SBAI model and I found out that it's better to start from 0
