For those who downloaded my Indian Navy package, here are updated traffic files removing my P-8s so as to be compatible with John Young's package. Simply replace your old traffic file with the appropriate file here.

John Y - I've downloaded the updated package. The Florida Orion plans are showing the duplicate aircraft error mentioned upthread. Is that as it should be?

Apologies, I updated the traffic file components and put them in the new zip, but obviously forgot to put the compiled .bgls in. I've attached them below. The second one is the FS9 version.

Sorry I only catched this now but there are still quite a few issues with the updated Florida Orions plans, John. Even the updated ones attached to this topic. The KC-135's are planned twice; once from KNIP (old P-3 plans I presume) and once from KMCF. There are also numerous mismatches between aircraft numbers and flightplans for the P-8's and P-3's.

I just tried to substitute P-8s into the P-3 slots that Des produced originally for his Florida Orion's package. I don't think I touched the KC-135s, but it's several months back that I did it. I only had a go myself because Des, having said he would do it, didn't get around to it. Flight planning is not my forte and I really don't want to get embroiled in these particular ones again. If anyone finding them a problem wants to produce a better set then they have my blessing.

Of course John I completely understand. I wouldn't want you to lose hours looking into this when that time would me much better spent on a spectacular new model.

I'll see if I can straighten everything out myself and if so I will post the plans here.

Never mind. I fixed it up myself. I didn't think I had enough time to do it before I had to go.

I discovered a small mistake in the aircraft.cfg of the P-8 Poseidons based at NAS Patuxent River which prevents them from parking at their desired parking spots.

The parking codes are atc_parking_codes=Vx1P for VX-1 and atc_parking_codes=x20P for VX-20.

However they should be atc_parking_codes=VX1P and atc_parking_codes=X20P (uppercase letters).

Otherwise the P-8s will park at the transient ramp and not at the VX-1 and VX-20 ramp area.

About your great P-8A with the AN/APS-154 Advanced Airborne Sensor (AAS).

We most likely all know the US Navy Boeing P-8A Poseidons with the large AN/APS-154 Advanced Airborne Sensor (AAS) underneath its belly. All photographs we have seen so far yield the AAS fixed underneath the Poseidon's belly. But now we have a first look with the AAS extracted. The pic is made from a Soviet FLANKER type during an intercept over the Black Sea, reportedly on 26 or 27 August 2025.

The Poseidon, BuNo 169554/554, is last reported with Patrol Squadron 26 "Tridents" (normally 'LK'-coded). The squadron has been operating out of NAS Sigonella (Italy) since late 2024.
The huge secretive multifunction radar is attached to a Special Mission Pod Deployment Mechanism (SMPDM). This mechanism is necessary as the field of view of the AAS is obstructed by the P-8As two engines. By using the mechanism that lowers the pod well below the fuselage, the AAS’ field of view is increased.
The AAS, developed from 2009 and flight tested since 2014, is equipped with an electronically-scanned array, so it does not have any old rotating-dish radar, it lacks moving parts and the APS-154 moves at the speed of digital. Some suggest that the radar is able to do nearly the same job as the well-known E-8A Joint Surveillance and Target Attack Radar System (JSTARS), resulting in the P-8A providing commanders with an airborne, stand-off range, surveillance and target acquisition radar and command and control centre. The system can not only find targets, but it can also pass coordinates directly via data link to another aircraft so it can engage the target instantly with a bomb or missile. However, the real significance of the AAS may lie in Poseidon's strategic anti-submarine warfare mission.
Initially, the AAS was only seen on very secretive BUPERS P-8As, operating out of Dallas, but currently most operational Patrol Squadrons are capable of using the pod too (but it's unclear if the pod contains the same systems).
