scenery.cfg problem?

Post by VulcanDriver »

I've been adding the air bases from the Mirage, Rafale and other French packages. All worked fine I then added more French scenery, didn't like it so I removed it. Now the buildings have vanished from the MAIW packages, I've not changed the layers and the scenery.cfg looks OK when I look at.

Any idea what may be causing this?

BTW in the Rafale package there are lots of scenery files which were in other packages. I only want LFRJ files is it OK to ignore the others?

Did you put all of the scenery in one folder?
How did you uninstall the scenery?

I've got the MAIW French bases in MAIW French AB Scenery folder. The additional base was in its own folder. I deleted that one. Then removed the entry in scenery.cfg using a scenery manager program.

Which additional base was that? It doesn't sound like one of ours.

See the only five reasons I can think of that would cause that
1. The file that calls the objects has been deleted.
2. The objects bgl(s) have been deleted
3. There is a dirty great exclude on a lower layer number that is stamping on the scenery.
4. The MAIW Global scenery folder is no longer active.
5. The MAIW France Air Bases scenery is no longe ractive.
If you have the scenery in one folder and the issue is happening at all the sceneries then I would tend to rule the third one out.

The most obvious to me is that the MAIW Global Scenery folder is either not active or too high in the layer order, but that would mean that every base would be affected.

The first thing I would do here is compare the oldscenery.cfg with the scenery.cfg. If all you have done is remove the one folder then when you compare the two there will be only one difference - the scenery folder you didn't like.

Secondly, as you already have the MAIW French Bases active I would simple copy those sceneries back in over the top.

If that doesn't fix it then I would look again at the scenery.cfg as your issue is very likely to be there.

Hi Steve checked other MAIW bases in Germany and the UK and the scenery is fine so its not the Global scenery, seems only affect the French bases.

I'll keep checking.

Will do I'm using a scenery.cfg from 2017 as my old one. Can't see any excludes that might effect it.

I've started to load the French bases one by one to see if there is one causing a problem. So far none show up on sim.

Also using the old cfg the same problem exists so it must exclude file somewhere

Re: scenery.cfg problem? (SOLVED)

In desperation I moved the AFCADs that came with the packages out of the AFCAD folder where I keep mine to the French Air Bases scenery and lo and behold the scenery appeared. Never thought that AFCADs would have that have effect on scenery.

OK so you had a personal variation.
I went differently, I split up all the French Bases into separate folders to ensure that i could easily replace one base should some scenery come along.

As a matter of interest what layer numbers do your AFCAD, MAIW French Bases, MAIW Scenery Objects folders have?

Layer=515 AFCADs

Layer=437 French Air Bases

Layer=109 MAIW Scenery Library Objects

OK well What I assume from that is that the French bases were calling for objects to be placed on files that the system wasn't aware of yet. It is the only possibility that I can see.

Strange it only happened with the French Bases as all others MAIW and non-MAIW scenery works OK.
