RIAT 2018 Arrivals

RIAT this year started a day earlier this year because the Friday show, which is normally 4 hours, was a 8hr show this year for the RAF 100 celebrations planned. With the show being pretty big for this year as well, both in aircraft size & numbers, this could be quite a big thread indeed. Once again we were actually blessed, most of the time, with an actual summer. For the first day Fairford was on the wrong runway for arrivals really so for the first day it's pretty much just taxi shots. Also I have included the shots of the Atl2 display as it was recalled the next day to go on a mission so we didn't see it again. Anyway on with the photos;

I'll keep this short & sweet as this is will be quite a big post, this was the final day of arrivals & for about 8 hours there was just constant action from either arriving aircraft or rehearsals, I'll keep this to arrivals as everything displayed other the 3 show days & you'll get plenty of shots of that from me. The weather to start with was appalling, 200ft base & low visibility, made for some epic shots of the US heavies bursting through the clouds though. Then about 90 mins in someone seemed to flick a switch & the clouds completely disappeared & the unusual English summer continued for the rest of the day.

Thanks John, the Whirlwind is owned by Andrew Whitehouse based at Crewkerne in Somerset I believe
